On the old Facebook, I've just had a 'friend' who I used to go school with contact me.
In 1984, at the age of 14, me and he almost came to blows as the Mighty Potters beat his 'beloved' Man Utd 2-1 on Boxing Day.
Left school, didn't see him for years until the mid 90's, where he 'proudly' sported a......wait for it..........Port F***ing Vale top!
Again, didn't see him for years, until about 2/3 years ago, saw him again with a brand new straight out of the packaging Chelsea top.
He's now added me as a friend, read his profile.
"Darren S***** is now a fan of Stoke City FC". To top it all off, he's added a comment "My first team is LFC (presume he means Liverpool?) but Stoke aren't bad as a reserve team.
Do I: A) Add him as a friend? or B) Set fire to him the next time I see him?
I'm genuinely gob-smacked!
If Wolves get promoted this season, I'd guarantee he'll be spotted wearing a Custard top....
Are we supposed to feel sorry for these people?

Ok. The favourite at the moment is KILL THE BASTARD.
However, the sarcastic approach also appeals so I've reminded him of 1984, his Port Vale top, the Man Utd for life statement and now the LFC is my first team! If I get a response from him, I'll be amazed

know exactly how you feel, numerous people i know how gone from being MAnure/neutral/lierpoo to now Stoke suppoters, it's the cheek that they have to say they've always been there though! Even when, on numerous occasion, i've had rows with such "fans" on why they support a 'big 4' team. Is it a cincidence hat all these GH's are aslo utter tosspots?

This one also has the misfortune of having ears twice as big as Sir Rory's! Fuck it, he's having it all barrels

I keep saying this when people refer to gloryhunters
our average home gate @ December 2007 was around 13,000
(only just over 12 months ago mind)
now - our ground is virtually full for EVERY home game
S0, where did the other 13,- 14,000 come from ? - gloryhunting is something I wouldnt be broadcasting too loudly about presently - for stoke city - we've got half a ground full !

agree with ukyestony.
i have a freind on facebook that is a suppoisedly 'massive liverpool fan' he refers to LFC as 'us kopties' on his facebook updates, i find him both annoying and very amusing at the same time.
He's so sad he's even changed his networks selection from 'West Midlands' to 'Liverpool', the other week before "the POOL (in his words) are in for another easy 3 points today" that was the game against us, afterwards, i put a comment on his stataus saying " thats a nice comment coming from a born and bred stokie, we batterd you you glory hunting twat"
His reply was " oh well at least we're the most succesful team in england" .......
What I want to know is where he gets the term 'WE' from? The twats a Stokie!!! - like I say i think its amusing cus he's so pathetic and i find it annoying as the twat never even goes a game yet he's a massive fan!
Somebody may know who i'm on about his initials are CR

Big difference between people who chop and change their team, and people who stay at home when we are shit, and come back again when we are good, but don't another team inbetween. I mean we took 36,000 to wembley twice when in the 3rd tier of english football

Tony
It is glory hunting of sorts but not in the way that abandoning your local team, viewing them as crap and then latching onto ManULiverpoolarsenalchelsea is.
The reason that we have big crowds is that many who only went to 5/6 games a season are now going to them all - Dont see much wrong with that me'sen

I feel sorry for these people...they have no soul
I have no choice but to support Stoke which is why winning is so great and losing so desperate. I can go an watch another team and want them to win. But I could never support anyone else in the same way
If you can chop and change so easily you can't feel the passion.

I just recall driving up and down a rain swept M6 motorway last season (before christmas) when less than 13,000 were turning up. People were calling Pulis not Fit to burn and, we werent going anywhere -that's just over a year ago
And then, I'd come on here to read the stuff some pillocks wrote - I'm not the best supportert nor the brightest - but some things I dont forget.
Come one come all I say, they're very welcome - BUT I also know damn well, half of em will disappear back into the woodwork just as quick IF we get relegated ( not that I think we will)
but they would - just when the club would need em the most unless of course, we stay top all season
so to me - they are mostly gloryhunters
and good time charlies - more required for em to be real fans methinks

I've had similar experiences, those bloke who for years have been saying things like "you must be mad still going down watching that rubbish", but these days most of them are down the Brit talking as if they've never missed a game since Stan was a lad, it does piss me off a little but at least none of them ever went as far as turning into Shit Fans etc.
I look on it as if they fell by the wayside, but are now back on track, without them we would still probably be getting 13000

I remember being able to put my feet on the chair in front or move seats it was so empty, or being around the same faces you knew week in week out. I'm not knocking it, it's just a culture shock.

Add him, Tell him what a gloryhunting scumbag he is and list what youve wrote there for everyone to see what a turncoat he is. ukyestony, your spot on there mate. IF we do go down which i also dont believe we will, I can bet money on it that 5-10,000 fans will vanish. I'll be honest i dont have a season ticket and cant make alot of games due to reasons of my own but should hopefully have a season ticket next season from saving this year, up or down.

That is one thing that does annoy me about capacity crowds, I can no longer spread myself out. The only time I have been truely comfortable at the ground this season was at the Sunderland game. I laid my ground sheet down and had a picnic and everything. Even though it was like -2 degrees. ;D
