Just to let you know, the reason people are down at the Mich is to look at the plans for the new training ground facilities. They sound absolutely fantastic too. PS. My inkling and that's all it is really, is that the new signing won't be Calve. It's not Diatta either, although we may well sign him. mmmmmmm please tell more about this "inkling"

No league has the reputation of the Premier though - rightly or wrongly. But the fact is that the French league is probably in the top handful of leagues in the world, with a conveyor belt of talent leaving there for the elite clubs. He has been described as one of the stand-out right-backs in that league in 07-08, and was apparently tempted to Nancy (a UEFA Cup qualifier) after links with tens of pretty high-calibre clubs who also wanted him on a Bosman. Hundreds of players with lesser CVs have made a decent mark on the Premier. And hundreds have fallen by the wayside. It's Pulis' call, at the end of the day. But he's described as fast and offensively-minded which is always attractive to fans. The words offensively-minded suggest to me that if we sign this guy it is not a TP signing and he'll be lucky to play a game I would love to be proven wrong, but I think you all understand the point I am making when the next few games are so crucial to the future of our club. If our signings know the Prem inside out then there is very little settling in needed. How long is it going to take someone to move countries and get used to a team who play an unusual team formation. More importantly how long will it take to get used to the pressure cooker that we will be playing in from now until May. Ethers and Beattie fit the profile of experienced Prem players. This guy doesn't and I am struggling to understand the logic. P.S. I was asked earlier in the thread whether we should steer clear of Kaka because he has no Prem experience. If Man City can sign anyone then in the position they find themselves, I wouldn't be looking beyond players currently in the Prem. Is Kaka going to perform at his best in the calamitous position City find themselves? Jo hasn't and Robinho is playing in fits and starts. Next season just watch Man City go, but as for this season, they are really (surprisingly) struggling. If I were them I would get Kaka to sign a deal in which he joins in July. For the remainder of this season they need some mentally tough current Prem players who know what survival in this League is all about. Waits for screams of derision!!

Go on, Homzy, spill the beans. Is it one of our other known targets or a "left field" signing?

Genuinely don't know. I'm not saying it won't be Calve and I suppose he's marginally the most likely arrival of the three main links (the others being Dindane & Ledley) at this moment in time.
But I just get the feeling/impression/inkling (delete as you wish!) it won't be him coming in before Sat. The squad travels to London in the morning, though, so hopefully we won't have to wait long to find out. Although Tone did say he hoped to have him in time for Dubai, not Chelsea.

i reckon camara.just a guess. You quoted the media on a signing you believed to be happening and claimed you had inside information. You then appear to lack confidence in the deal going ahead. .. ?

For some reason i have the feeling that i am going to be disappointed with this signing when (if?) it comes off. I usually find TP's signing of defenders uninspiring; however this Calve bloke had the word 'attacking' mentioned alongside him so this makes me slightly happier - however it is that word alone which makes me think it's not him at all ??? The un-Pulis like players being touted around do give me that slighly excited feeling though....it just won't go away...please Tone, sign us a belter!!!!
