You are usually correct Mark. However, this signing is just a complete and utter waste of time. Not ready for the Prem. Can't understand it for second.
In terms of quality of where he is playing now, he isn't much different to Gray who has rightly produced astonishment on here.
Please. please, please be someone better.

March 4, how can you dismiss a player whom I would imagine you have never seen play?
Following your logic, Kaka is not worth signing as he has never played in England, so will be no good in the Premiership.
If you then say, yes, but the Italian league is a better league than the French, then I point you to Didier Drogba, who plied his trade in the French league for his whole career before moving to Chelski. Plenty more players have moved straight from the French league to ours with success - Evra, Clichy and Sagne (all of which happen to be full backs as well!), to name but three.
Give the lad a chance - if TP sees something in him, and he does sign, let's judge him on his performances, eh?

I'd rather it be Calve than Diatta or Gray, but I'd rather it was Dindane or Bullard rather than Calve

Toure is another classic example, signed for about £200,000 from some team never heard of in the Ivorian(?) league. I think most would say he's another that looking at the pre-signing details you would write off completely

A player from France (quality of League not a patch on the Prem), who isn't playing regularly as he either isn't good enough or not match fit and has never played in England is not going to make any sort of contribution in what is going to be the toughest relegation battle since the Prem began. He is probably a decent player with good stamina and strength, but it is going to take a certain type of player to walk straight into our team and give things a lift. This signing is 'one for the future'. I think we need signings for now. Soares was a signing for the future and a fat lot of good he is to our cause at this moment in time.

This is exactly why I'm not creaming myself over the prospect of Dindane signing.

No league has the reputation of the Premier though - rightly or wrongly.
But the fact is that the French league is probably in the top handful of leagues in the world, with a conveyor belt of talent leaving there for the elite clubs.
He has been described as one of the stand-out right-backs in that league in 07-08, and was apparently tempted to Nancy (a UEFA Cup qualifier) after links with tens of pretty high-calibre clubs who also wanted him on a Bosman.
Hundreds of players with lesser CVs have made a decent mark on the Premier.
And hundreds have fallen by the wayside.
It's Pulis' call, at the end of the day. But he's described as fast and offensively-minded which is always attractive to fans.

Nope definitely the Mitch. how do you know mate? Was due to have a meeting with one of them tonight, but he canceled due to this meeting. No idea at all what its about or if it has anything do do with a transfer....just know they are/were there.

Anyone who signs at the Mitch must surely be a bit short on selective capaciity. Or rather long on wage demands?

Grapey, I am not sure it is worth talking sense like that as March 4 is not listening. He has made his mind up and that's that - Calve will be a shocking signing.
Let's just drag this thread to the top in a few months if he does sign and is a real star.

Just to let you know, the reason people are down at the Mich is to look at the plans for the new training ground facilities.
They sound absolutely fantastic too.
PS. My inkling and that's all it is really, is that the new signing won't be Calve. It's not Diatta either, although we may well sign him.
