According to the Sky Sports Transfer Clockwatch, Spurs may be after Kenwyne Jones for 14m! what a ridiculous price tag that is!
The guy has come a long way since playing for Stoke away at Gillingham one dismal Tuesday night a few years ago. Think we lost 2-1.

We did lose 2-1. I remember Jones wheeling away and doing his cartwheels.

he does score goals then, he has put alot of weight on since those days aswell, he is quick strong, skillful, good in the air a good finisher and young, he will only get better a worthy gamble i think

Considering he had been out injured, I thought he looked incredibly impressive when he came on at Stoke for Sunderland this season: a different player to the one we had on loan.
He'd be a great signing for Spurs, I think...not at £14 million, though, as he still doesn't look like a particularly accomplished finisher.

Not all of us treated KJ with disdain and I was hoping that we'd give him a go and said so at the time. Nice to get at least one right!
Money to burn? Spurs announced when the Ramos trio were sacked, at great expense, that there was no money in the kitty for Jan transfers.
Of course 'Arry changed all that, as he did at previous clubs. A bit of the Roy Keane "I'm here because I'm ambitious, and if you (the board) aren't, then I may as well be on my way" and even Daniel Levi (like Quinn) gets nervous, though Alan Sugar would have remained calm.
They bought Defoe ('Arry cost 'em, as he paid over £5M less for him, at Pompey!) but isn't the sort to be grateful, saying that "we won't get into Europe with this unbalanced team, so I need at least three more players", and they've bowed down to him. Again.
That's why he is reasonably successful and why the fawning press - who gave him a Tribute Evening, at the week-end - rarely criticise the rogue.
It will be interesting to see if they give an award to the likes of Tango or TP, if our clubs stay up, this season. After all, Keane was supposed to have worked miracles, on a mere £80M.

I always rated Kenwyne Jones as well. Turned out to be a quality player.
Hopefully Spurs' predicament will expose the Harry myth. Funny how when things are going well he's happy to take the credit but when it goes tits up it's the players' fault.

Does anyone remember his home debut against Leicester? He got in all the right positions and played very well but just couldn't score. We won 3-2 but if Jones hadn't been so wasteful, it could have been about 7!

'His Christian name was at least appropriate given that his performances for us were worth about-two bob.'
'Arry on Florin Raducioiu (for whom he paid £1.5m in '96).
C'mon Surrey, neither Tango, and most certainly not Triffic, are ever going to provide the press with free material like that.

i thought Kenwyne Jones was a pile of tripe down Stoke, forever slipping over playing in roller blades, a touch that is only matched by the subtle wrong doings of Mr Glitter himself... & altho 7ft tall couldnt head a ball for all the unemployed in Hull.
Utter W@nk!

When he was at Stoke, he wasn't anything even worth noticing, bit of a Gifton. But now he has everything, even a footballers brain to make good runs. But £14m?!?!
What happened to the credit crunch?

Didn't 'Arry also buy a Dutch striker called Marco Boogers for Wet Sham for a million, who never played a game, had a breakdown and went off to live in a caravan somewhere in Kent, I seem to recall?
Whatever else you say about him, he can extract cash out of cumudgeonly chairmen like no other and generally puts together decent teams that are a significant improvement on what came before.
He is not afraid to take a risk on Johnny Foreigner either - of course, some fail, but others come off big style. Maybe TP can learn a thing or two off his old mate if we do stay up.
