If, and its a big if, we had a £4m (say) bid accepted by newcastle for him, would you accept him at stoke? He is obviously a decent player but comes with a lot of baggage. Thoughts?

No, too much baggage. I can understand the temptation some managers are under to go for him as he is a very good footballer who would be available for not much money. But to be honest, his record off the pitch is so bad he should never be allowed to play professional football again in my opinion. I'm normally someone who says that once someone has served their time they should be allowed to move on but Barton is such a disgusting creature that he has no place on a football pitch in my opinion - I reckon he has been let off lightly given his serial offending.

No.
Barton & Ronaldo are the only players who, if hypothetically we signed them, would lead me to stop going to the Brit on principle.

Good player with potential, at one point in his career.
He's fucked up big time and is basically a thug, no thanks.

Yes. A good player that would improve our team. Sign him with a clause that if he gets in trouble with the old bill (serious and found guilty) then his contract will be canceled and he will get fuck all payout from the club. If he intended to keep his nose clean he would have no problem with it. Done the crime and done his time. Move on.

He might come with baggage and a bad reputation but his comments after he started back at Newcastle showed his determination to prove his critics wrong and let his football do the talking. Yes he is hotheaded but if he can channel that into his football then he has the potential to be a brilliant football player. Plus if Tony is wanting to take on all these 'strays' I think he'd do well here.

Keep away, a thug, an idiot. a bad egg.. But i cant believe the guys saying if we signed Ronaldo they would stay away,, The boy is a footballing genius, and as much as you hate his antics if he was doing them for your side you would soon grow to love him...FACT..
For instance if we were another club after Fuller now im sure there fans would not want him re the Griffin incident

For 2m I'd personally snap their hands off.

Ok he's not Lee Hughes but he's not a lot better, don't think even Tone could turn the little twat back into a human being. Anyway he's a good player but not that special.

Good player, but perhaps over-rated. Man City were pretty much a one-man team when pearce was in charge, and barton was that man - until the Dabo assault anyway. Since then he has not really done it, but then he hasn't had much chance to.
Aside from his various assault charges etc, the other side of his attitude that stinks is that he thinks he is better than he is as shown by his comments upon coming into the England setup.
