Looked an absolute solid rock yesterday IMO, won everything in the air (not sure he would ahve done against mama though) and let little go through him...
Skittle kept getting bowled over (see what I did there)
and making mistakes at the back, but hypia was there to mop those mistakes up...
Him and adboulye in the middle would be quality with an quality replacement in shawcross

he was the reason no throws and corners worked for stoke with sidibe on maybe it would of been a tougher game for hypia but you can see why pulis went in for him

Great show by a great player, however we never tested him on the deck... Only if Fuller had played! Great point all the same and a big well done to the players and squad for yesterdays efforts.

He did play well but Fuller (pace) and Mama (power) would have given him a more thorough work out. To be honest, if those two had been in the squad he would have been breathing through his @arse by the end. Having said that I do think he is a smashing player and always have done.

I like Hypia....shame we couldn't manage to bring him in.Would have been a fantastic signing for us. Fully committed and very solid player who is also class in the opposite area....mystery as to why Benitez didnt include him in their Champs League squad?!!?

Thought he had a relatively easy day up against Dozy Dave. Would have liked to see Fuller running at him with the ball. Good in the air apart from when Cresswell challenged, then the ball just dropped to anyone who was near.

He was very dominant but I said during the game that if we had Ric's pace and trickery combined with Mama's aerial presence I'm convinced we'd have turned them over.

won everything in the air and his positioning sense makes up for a lack of pace.
great defender wish he played for us.

If your lad Fuller had played there is now way that Hypia would have been on. 5 years ago awesome - but v slow now. In the air though, there is bo one better ( although i wouldn't say that to the man in the picture above!)

dannyboy,
spot on. Quick enough to do Kitson for pace when 2nd favourite in the second half, mind.

Fuckin hell, Him and Faye would be a ledge partnership. But I like the fact Shawcross in in there as a regular again.
