Ok to follow my FA cup ID card debate earlier this month, how about this one..... How many non-holders would apply for a ID card if Stoke were to reach the Premiership? discuss!

I don't think it matters, all the proper away fans other than those protesting the scheme already have them and the ones protesting the scheme aren't going to get them at all.
Though it would be good if we sold more.

Well I probably would.
Only reason I haven't got one at present is I don't travel to away games nowadays.
I'm sure the Prem would tempt me to start up again though. Not least because most of the stadiums have changed so much since I last visited them.

No. 1 Dude,
Have to disagree there. If we were to go on a promotion drive and then get into the Premier I think you'd be able to count the number of genuine away followers (ie. those who regularly used to go but have stopped solely becvause of the card) who would keep up their stance in the nothing more than the dozens.
The temptation would just be too great.

Yer agree there smudge i was just saying, it's the real loyal fans that go now and i would welcome more ID card holders.
Just me being misunderstood as always.
It must be the way i phrase things.

Id love to see 5000 Stoke fans at away games again (Remember Sheff Wed away last season?) And i have no doubt that Stoke would recieve at least 5000 more applications for ID cards if we were to reach the Premiership?!

It would depend whether premiership clubs were willing to accept the ID scheme. If the majority were going to turn around and say they'd rather have bums on seats than enforced ID then we wouldn't have many more applicants at all.
If the clubs were going to play by Stokes rules and take ID cards i''d say we'd get a few more applicants. We have to bear in mind that we already have 5,000 card holders. say another 5,000 applied, we'd then have 10,000.
Can we really see us taking 10,000 away from home anywhere? premiership or not? To be honest I can't.
Now I'm not sure what kind of allocations we'd get in Premiership either. I'm not up on ground capacities and away allocations so perhaps someone can help me?
I don't think in all honest demand would be much higher

I'm just thinking about all those that would want to go to Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle Becks.
I bet there is at least 5000 out there that haven't got a card yet.
And also, apparently within the 5000 already sold, there are players familes, club staff, etc.....so we'd probably be looking a top away support of maybe 8000. Although the more I think about Manchester United away in the Premiership, the more I think we could sell pretty much anything they could give us.

Don't Manure only give 2-3000 away for Prem games??
I thought some of the other clubs had kicked a fuss up about it the other season ???

Can we really see us taking 10,000 away from home anywhere? premiership or not? To be honest I can't. Becks i think we could easily take 10,000 to away games in the Premiership, although i dont think many would offer that many tickets but we would most definetly sell what we were given! Remember we took well over 30,000 to The Autoglass/Autowindscreens finals and the Playoff final, which IMHO are not major finals! (although they were in a Stokie kind of way ) With Premiership football we would be playing some of the best teams in the world.... smeegs

In know we'd probably only get 3000 tickets but my point is there would be 10,000+ Stokie's wanting to go to that match if we went up, so a lot would buy ID cards just for that. I'd like to see how many we took to Charlton or Bolton though, probably not very many.

Ok Martin i see your point about the 30,000 odd for Wembley but at the same time I see the point I kept having drilled into me (so don't blame me) but say we had 10,000 stokies at Wembley and each one brought 2 other tickets for family - that would give you your 30,000 and maybe not necessarily 30,000 stokies, just some folks along for a good day out?
;D sorry i'm an argumentative bugger at times

On a slightly different note...
Last week when we were at Wimbledon in the league, I had complimentary tickets at the Everton vs Charlton match.
I was shocked when I looked over to the Charlton fans and there could not have been more than 300-400 who had travelled. This is for a team at their highest ever point in the league (?) currently occupying a Champions League spot!!
The point being, I think many away followings are hugely exagerrated. For instance, when we were in the 2nd, one of the great benefits of reaching the 1st was the big away followings that would come to the Brit. Has that away end ever been full? Even Wolves only brought about 2-3000 last year!
On to Stoke, I think our away followings would be quite large especially for the first season in the Prem , but on average it wouldn't be more than 2-3000. Remember costs aswell!!
