To me it does! I'm getting the impression from other posters that TP and the players see the FA Cup as a distraction from more important issues of staying in the Premiership. And after hearing him on the radio, saying he couldn't see us getting back in it after going one down and the lack of effort from the players really pisses me off.
Its about time Pulis and his players grew some bollocks and showed a bit more respect to fans who follow them through thick or thin.

Normally i would say the FA Cup does matter. However, for this season we need to concentrate on the most important thing and that is Premier League survival.

The shambles of a team and performance matter.

yes normally, its a cup compitition! but at the moment we have more important matters that need full attention, so on that basis, i could'nt care any less about a cup-run.

The FA cup is the world greatest club competition and deserves the upmost of respect - toady Hartlepool showed plenty of people across the world what a great competition it really is! It's just a shame our players did not think so - today they disgraced our great club and the fa cup

It matters to those 700 odd who travelled up and paid to see the team humiliate themselves yeah.

EVERY competition matters!
Even the Shelton 3-a-side across Cauldon Road League matters!

The FA cup "doesn't matter" in so far as we were never going to win it, but this misses the point. Today was an ideal opportunity for those players returning to the squad to ease themselves back into things with a confidence-boosting win.
Indeed, it is likely to be these very same players on whom we are going to rely for goals next Saturday and maybe Chelsea the week after. (God help us).
Pullis's comment that "we never looked like getting back into it after the first" is a frank but strange admission, and for me beggars belief insofar as it says as much about his inability to motivate the team and change things from the touchline. Scary.
I am not a PHW by any stretch, but remain deeply ambivalent as to whether he is still the man for the job. I would not neccessarily advocate any changes now, as I don't think we could get anyone significantly better, plus I do feel we have some sort of moral obligation to allow him a full season to shine, however, more hard-nosed clubs / chairman may take a more pragmatic view in the face of an ugly relegation scrap.
No point us killing each other, that's for sure......

We have to show to other teams we mean business, laying down and dying just isn't the option. I feel cheated by the attitudes of management and players alike, I'd like to think Stokies haven't grown a snobbish side as far as the greatest cup competition in the world is concerned.
To lose like we have today does nothing for our reputation so it does matter.

Some people seem to think we can turn our results and performances on and off like a tap.
We are in a slump at the moment, and guess what, there have been two "meaningless" cup ties in our recent poor run of results and performances that had we won, played well in or, dare I say, taken a bit more seriously, could have had a positive effect on our season.
If we can't create a chance of note against a team beaten 4-1 by Crewe in their last game, then how can anyone have any real confidence that it will all come good once we get past our difficult January?
