Dunno him, sorry.
Are the opposition defence briefed to "bash the Bishop" before they go out though?

What about Aaron McLean (Peterbrough) if your going for lower league strikers, 23 so far this season including a hat-trick last night?

TP would want a target man - Bishop looks the type.
out & out goalscorer to buy would be Fleetwood @ FGRovers but we appear to have lost interest

Is Fleetwood 21 or 23? Ive read several articles about him with conflicting ages. At 21 you'd think he was well worth a punt. At 23 is the money best spent elsewhere?
The step up from non-league to the CCC is massive. I know there is an old saying that proper strikers will score at ANY level but in modern day football I think thats bollocks.
Perhaps true once up a time when the gaps were smaller in the pyramid but surely not now?

I think it's always difficult to tell with lower league players if they'll make the step-up. The players that score the most goals aren't always the hidden gems.
I remember people banging on about Luke Rogers when he was in non-league for a good couples of years and what has he ever done? Izale McLeod, League 2...scored 1 goal since being at Charlton and Billy Sharp, League 1, has done nothing since joining Sheff. Utd.
On the other hand you have players like Dave Kitson and Kevin Doyle at Reading (the later came from the Irish League) who have taken to the Championship and then Premiership like ducks to water.
No matter how closely these players are watched, there is always a huge gamble involved. For this reason, I don't lose any sleep over us 'missing' out on players like this. If TP doesn't think they'll make a difference, that's good enough for me!

I remember Pulis saying he'd watched Eastwood loads of times at Southend in League One, and he had no doubt he'd be a big hit at this level.
Did okay in this league in his first season, but can't really get a game under McCarthy. If he's available for a knock-down price, maybe he'd be tempted.

£250k for Fleetwood a huge risk?
wages would be v.low.

Agree Chris. The number of players at 21 let alone 23 making the step up successfully to pro football from non-league is minimal now. Clubs spot these kids at 7/8 and have them training within the academy or youth set up from primary school age. Very few slip thru the net. Although it has to be said some do and there will always be the off Doyle that does go on and make it.
That said 250K isnt peanuts in the Bosman era below the Premiership. Let it not be forgotten we only paid 300K for a 28 yr old lad from the Premiership.
And wages, even at 1.5K a week ties up another 78000 a year.
Thats 300K ++ on a player who "might" make it.
I'd prefer that outlay spent on either proper youth development or someone with a track record of bagging at this level or someone prolific from L1 who is used to the pace of professional football.
On the other hand if Fleetwood is as good as people think why the fuck not !

All about judgement isnt it
Cotwoldstokie watches FGRovers a lot (they play a lot of midweek games) & he thinks @ that price its a no-brainer
Stoke have been scouting him so presumably they think he's got something. TP would probably not go for him as his style isnt really like a Pericard or a Sidebe though.

Neither is the Beast's, to be fair.
The fact he gambled on Parkin could mean he's not as wedded to the Sidibe role as we think.
You would probably need someone reasonably physical to act as a focal point, in order to complement Fuller though?
It would be hard to see Fuller alongside a nippy flyer like Fleetwood.

Sell Bish and suffer, says Brass By Marc Iles Comment
CHRIS Brass has urged the club to resist the temptation to sell star striker Andy Bishop today - or risk relegation.
The sands of time are slipping by before midnight's transfer deadline, with several clubs monitoring the 13-goal top scorer's situation.
No official bids have yet been forthcoming, but with a frenzied day of transfer activity expected on all fronts, nothing can be taken for granted.
Caretaker boss Brass has been told by the Shakers board that he can bring players in, but only if they move straight into the first team.
More money is available to bring new faces to the team, and although a bid for winger Kevin Ellison was initially turned down, Chester could yet have a change of heart.
But it is the future of Bishop that is causing the most concern.
Brass, who was instrumental in signing the Shakers' 13-goal top scorer in June 2006, can speak from experience as to the adverse effects of losing your top striker.
Whilst manager of York City four years ago, he was forced to sell dangerman Jon Parkin to Macclesfield Town, an event that accelerated the Minstermen's slide towards the Conference trapdoor.
And though he does not yet know whether he will get the nod to lead the side long-term - he has warned the Shakers not to make the same mistake.
"Whether it is in my hands, I don't know," said Brass, who continues to steer the ship until the managerial situation at Gigg Lane is rectified. "But in my opinion, when you sell your best players you run the risk of the worst case scenario.
With only today remaining before the midnight transfer deadline, the club were still bracing themselves for serious bids.
Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy claims to have made a £60,000 offer for Bishop, and though the figure would probably have been laughed out of Gigg Lane, the bid itself has been vehemently denied by the Shakers board.
"We have had no written offers for Andy Bishop," said director Ian Harrop. "There has been a lot of speculation and the vast majority has been just that.
"If the reports have come from a manager, as in the Morecambe case, then that just makes it all the more disappointing."
Several clubs, including Championship outfits Scunthorpe United, Stoke City and Blackpool, are said to be monitoring the situation but unless a bid arrives of considerably more depth than that apparently offered by McIlroy, Bishop is likely to spearhead the club's fight against relegation until at least the summer.

Bishop gets rave reviews around these parts and many feel hecould make the step up a la Nugent. He's big, strong, fairly quick with an eye for goal, a Pulis type of player. Would be a worthwile gamble at the right price.....

25 though? And been trundling 'round the lower leagues for a while. Reasonable goal record though, especially if he is a targetman into the bargain.
Bury 60 (7) 22 York 73 (6) 34
From Stone - wonder if he is a Stoke fan?
