According to the Hartlepool groundsman - he's confident that they can beat the frost
Groundstaff at Victoria Park have been taking precautions ahead of the weekend to ensure the weather does not get in the way of Pools' FA Cup tie with Stoke City. With temperatures dropping this week, the threat of overnight frost looms but Groundsman Dave Brown says he and his staff are well ahead of the game. "We were expecting Tuesday to be the coldest night this week according to the forecasts," he explained. "We therefore made the decision to cover the pitch in advance of that and they will remain in place until Friday. "The problem with frost on our pitch is that we have a shadow at the Town End so it takes a long time to thaw if it does get in. "Thankfully, with Hartlepool being near the sea we aren't as susceptible to frost but it's always important to take precautions to protect the playing surface." Brown has a great track record for beating the weather - the last time Pools were forced to postpone a game was almost four years ago when persistent rain meant our game against Luton Town on 31st January 2004 could not go ahead. "We've acted quickly this week and I don't think there should be any problems with Saturday's game taking place," he added.

Only problem is the stand which appears to cause the same problem as Crewe's main stand

A mate of mine lives that way and he says that theres no chance of the match going ahead unless it gets warmer. With it being a 1pm kickoff they will need to decide on Friday evening as the coaches leave at 7.30am
