I'm sure there are many on here who will queue up to make excuses for him but I am afraid significant questions need to be asked of St Tony and I really hope, as a Stokie through and through, that he is big enough, clever enough and cute enough to answer them this January.
Whilst I'm not the biggest lover of TP I'm no activisit PHW either. I dont like him, I dont like his brand of football and I dont like some of his decisions but on balance he has turned a sow's ear into a silk purse. Sort of.
We are fortunate enough to have twenty points but a vile January calendar could see us start February bottom of the pile with only 20 points, 21 points maximum.
We have been unlucky for sure. Sidibe, Lenny and Kitson have had bad knocks and no manager can account for the indiscipline and immaturity displayed by Wilkinson and Fuller but this just hides a few things that many of us were saying back in July/August that the squad just didnt have the depth in the right areas.
Muscle, organisation and spirit are fantastic but they do not win you games when you go behind.
We are fucking clueless offensively and anyone highlighting the Newcastle game as an example of how we can play is deluded. They threw that game away, and thankfully we had enough about us to grab a point.
We lack width and we lack genuine options up top. We also lack something in the middle to make us tick.
Unless TP spends big this next month or so we are royally fucked. We need a centre-forward urgently and we need width, we fucking need width Tony, we needed it last season so why wouldnt we need it now???
Defensively we'll be OK, we have enough, but we need to WIN games now, and we need three wins away.
We will not win away in a month of Sundays if TP continues to play this sterile game of absorption and over-reliance on set plays.
Teams have found us out.
Ive watched all of the 90 minutes today, much of it from behind the sofa and between my fingers.
We were stoic, we were solid. But equally we were cowardly, unadventurous and timid up top.
We showed on Friday what we could do, and we need to be set up to do that at home AND away.
On the Fuller incident, handbags clearly, a problem sorted out between the players, and it was a harsh red. Still, rules are rules and he probably had to go. I dont care if Fuller never wears a red and white shirt again, he is a petulant twat and I'd rather see us go down with dignity than have our best player chucking slaps at his captain. I fear for him on the team coach. The other lads were clearly narked. And thats an under-statement. Although perhaps this could be the making of us, managed properly St Tony could maximise this incident to unite us. Fuller needs to issue an apology through the club to the 2000 hardy souls who spent hard-earned today, that was the vile side of professional football.
We need urgent surgery, for we are now on life-support and on the critical list. Invest now, or plan for next season in the CCC. Its that simple.
We'll ask our questions of St Tony in May, for now the lads need the backing of all of us, PHW or not.
Beware the Ides of March.

We need 2 things-some real threats from the wings and a bit of lady luck. We've had no luck this season whatsoever and its really annoying. The next month will be hard and we need to strengthen desperately. January will be tough and with today our best chance of 3 points in the next 4/5 weeks has gone. Its going to be tough and I expect us to be bottom. But I think we can turn it round. But need to win away and that looks as likely as Shergar winning the Grand National being riden by Lord Lucan on Mars.
Why are we so shit away from home?

When you get promoted EVERYONE needs to develop and improve. Pulis seems to have gone back to his Binary way of thinking from 4 years ago.

Agree with the sentiment here, January (an early January) is now becomming a £30M gamble, quite simply there is no more room for excuses we need to sign and sign big to stay up, we are now sliding backwards as other seemed to have foun traction. Points were there today, as they were against Man U, we can not afford anymore squandering of points...

As you can see I don't post on here very often as I like to read everybodys views. But....... after reading your post Dave I couldn't agree with you more. We all know that Fuller is our biggest threat but he is also our biggest liability. I personally think what he did today was a disgrace and he should be made to apologise to all the Stoke fans.
I, like you, watched the match in full on the internet and at times it was scary. I have to give the lads credit for the way they played before the sending off but after that there was only going to be one winner.
I also am not much for the "football" that we watch down Stoke but after supporting the team for more than 35 years I am not about to slag the manager off as he got us to the promised land where others failed.
It's also true Dave that we have suffered with injuries and some bad luck but again like you say we all know that we are not strong enough in depth.
I think that we will struggle to sign better players, in January, than what we have got at the moment. Who will want to sign for a club that is increasingly looking like being relegated?
I thought it was a great post Dave, I too will more than likely get slated aswell but hey ho who cares!!!
