Is a done deal, fee, personal terms etc are all tied up so I have been told tonight. I'd be happier to p/ex Kitson in the deal if I had a choice, also asked if there was any truth in the Fuller rumours doing the rounds at the minute. Apparently he's not a happy chappy but he's been assured of "useful additions" in January.

So kitsons been promised that we'll sign some usefull additions in january and we've signed harewood? Well that's that fucked then.

Well Harewood has scored more goals in a single Prem season than Kitson makes him fairly useful don't you think? Averages a goal in just over every 4 Prem games and the fact he's been used mainly as a sub by Villa not a bad record.

Harewood always comes across as a miserable looking git to me but will work his socks off for 90 minutes, not sure if his goal ratio is what we need to stay up though but him and Fuller sounds a whole lot better than Cresswell and Fuller atm.

I wouldn't really know what to make of Harewood signing.
16 goals in the Prem in 05-06. 22 in the Championship in 04-05 26 in the Championship in 03-04. 21 in the Championship in 02-03.
Can't knock his goals record in the C'ship, and he had one excellent season in the Prem for West Ham in 05-06.
But, 30 in August and the physical assets he relies so heavily on presumably on the wane, 2 quiet largely bench-warming seasons at Villa, certainly not a natural fit in the Sidibe role despite his power, and not as good as Fuller...
Maybe a debatable one overall if we're looking at £3-4m - although that, depressingly, goes next to nowhere in the English domestic market?
Presumably we won't sign him as well as Dindane?

He said the Fuller rumours, not Kitson....
What rumours other than he might sign for Everton for £4m because someone saw Coronation St years ago with Kenwright on it?

Yet another 6ft plus target man to hurl 60yd howitzer balls to when plan A fails yet again no doubt. Call me pedantic, but this is all so familiar.

I think Harewood is pretty wank in the air, to be honest. He's more pace and strength. Well he was, pre -Villa. He's looked decidedly lethargic in the 3 European games on the box, this year. That said, it's not easy to get motivated when you're not playing regularly, or feel you have little chance of playing.

Desperately need a forward player with bags of pace who can keep the ball at his feet, don't really know enough about him. The European games on Five that I have watched he's looked very ordinary...to be honest he's looked shite against pretty poor opponents.

I've never thought of him as a target man, from what I've seen of him. I've always saw him as someone who sits on the shoulder of the last man and tries to exploit his power and pace, rather than someone who's above-average aerially in a target-manny kind of way? uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd-lN7LmzxI

I think Dindane has played out wide too, Grapey. It could be possible I suppose. Especially as a loan wouldn't cost so much.

Rather we went for jerome, lita, someone who will give us a different option up front.

Rather we went for jerome, lita, someone who will give us a different option up front. i'd put harewood miles past either jerome or lita in terms of ability. before he joined villa he has always played as a much more mobile striker, running the channels, bursting into the box etc at villa he's been a bit more stationary, probably because o'neil would rather agbonlahor to do the running - but if he can find that west ham form (and with a run of games i can't see why not) he'll be a very useful player for IMO. kitson and mama competing harewood and fuller competing similar enough for decent cover/rotation different enough to mix it up mid-game makes sense to me

If we were ONLY looking to buy Harewood I'd be worried. But if we are trying to bring inHarewood and Dindane (or Camara) plus a decent winger then I'd say we will have more options than we have at the moment and I reckon we'd see enough improvement in the squad to keep us up. I'd still like an attacking full back as well though.

Harewood, like anyone else we might sign, will only score goals if he has the ball from wide areas. At the moment, NOBODY will score many goals for us without support players in the right areas. Stating the obvious, I know, but don't want to start knocking Harewwod/any body else, before we see who else is brought in.

I can see Pulis wanting Harewood to play the mama role and like Kitson before him it will be a total waste of a very decent player and our club's money.
The sooner we add the option to play without long balling it to mama the sooner we'll see Kitson and possibly Harewood come good.

I agree completely.
If we're going to be shelling out 5.5 mil for the likes of Kitson and 4 mil for Harewood and possibly 6 mil for Dindane, then we simply have to be looking to at bringing in a wide player of equal pedigree.
Spends of this size are going to require something a little bit more than the long ball in order for them to reach their full potential.
