Heroic defending, great organisation, superb committment and endeavour but only four goals scored in the last nine games. Basically, with the exception of Ricardo we haven't a single player capable of penetrating premiership defences and not a single player capable of scoring goals from open play. Mama a battering ram, Cresswell, a decent and honest enough player but without pace, Pericard hopelessly out of his depth, and Kitson, a square peg in a round hole. Without stating the obvious, unless TP sorts this out in January we're stuffed.

I totally agree...was discussing this with a neutral supporter this morning who watched the game too...we have too many players of a similar ilk and although by and large i have been impressed with our honesty and work ethic we do look hopelesly lacking in the last third.... roll on January...

I don't agree with this... at least not entirely. We had a few good chances at goal yesterday! And don't forget who we were playing I was proud of the lads yesterday, not just for their spirit, but they belief when attacking. If we play like that tomorrow.................

On a positive note... Kitson has got to score soon Lawrence (16 goals last season) should add a few Mama will be back to take the pressure of Ric Pericard will probably never play for us again We might sign a new striker

We certainly do need another striker to take some of the load off Fuller. BUT we have been a bit unlucky in that a smallish squad has had to suffer injuries to Sidibe and Lawrence, both of them integral to the way we play in attack - and Kitson gets injured at a time when he really was needed and might have recovered form and confidence.

Ricardo was dangerous and on another day could have had a goal!
Plus Rorys long throws now seem to be getting back to normal, Van Der Sar shit himself everytime one was awarded

Lakeland, unlucky with injuries? I said at the end of the last transfer window, (with a few very obvious gaps) that we'd be ok only if we were lucky with regard to injuries. We have been! Mama and Delap could easily have been injured earlier and our confidence would have been zapped. And please can we have less of "the window opening in January", as if it's some time away, and more of who should be with us on Thursday and playing next week-end!

totally agree dan. Whenever Fuller gets the ball he has two players around him simply because we have no one else who has enough quality to worry them too much

can't argue with this, we need some more players further up the field more often.

Probabaly a lot of inconvenient truths in this thread.
My take on this, no Fuller, no goal threat - and, he gets himself booked EVERY SINGLE GAME
we need another goal threat, pure and simple or else, we could lose our hard won status

it won't be long before fuller gets suspended again , lets hope we don't have to play cresser up on his own

we needed a new goal threat before the season started. tony must address this problem as soon as poss.i thought cresswell and fuller blew two really good opportunities against manu by not passing the ball when in a good position to do so.come on tony, sort this out.

Just as I thought Pulis was getting better at these things he said the phrase, 'we need a bit more quality in the final third' after the match on Friday.
Bloody right we do and we have done since you arrived mate - sort it!

Our system is a bit like a Portugese wild dog, we survive by picking up on scraps. They're crafty sods are those dogs. We have to be the same. We've done ok in home territory but as soon as we stray out of it, we are not very streetwise. We have to learn how to raid the opposition larders in their backyard. That takes cunning. That's what we're short of.
OS.
