M6 - A69 traffic around Manchester and Leeds on the M62 can be a nightmare.
Little bit further the M6-A69 but thats which way we are going!

Take a tip from an experienced HGV driver.
A50 towards Derby, A38 towards M1 then you'll come out at junction 28, follow to about junction 33 ish , on to the M18 then up the A1......If your trying the M6 / M62 then set off in plenty in time as its a nightmare, My route my sound longer but all the road improvements have now been completed on the M1 so you'll fly up, i went to Peterlee last night and even doing my limit of 56mph i was there in 2hour 50mins

Both times i've been to tyneside has been this way. Clear traffic all the way. May be more miles but no traffic.

What ever you do if you get lost up there and happen to ask for directions make sure you put the word "like" at the end of your question!
A simple "Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to St James' please" will unfortunately be met with a blank look and potentially a grunt...
However if you say "Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to St James' please - LIKE" they'll be only too happy to tell you and will probably take you there themselves the friendly bunch!
