That is fantastic news. Pity he is out for the next three league games though. We have no obvious replacement - I'd draft in Ryan Shotton myself - he is our second highest league scorer (from right back at Tranmere) and he is as big as Mama!

I remember Griff saying how Mama had immense healing properties, when he did that Radio stoke piss-take interview last season. They reckon Mama drinks buffalo's blood and heals like superman. Gooo on Mama!

Hyperextended knee refers to an injury in which the knee is forced beyond its normal fully straightened position. This position forces the lower leg excessively forward in relation to the upper leg. A hyperextended knee often occurs as a result of an awkward landing after a jump or from a contact injury to the lower leg. It is a common injury in jumping or leaping sports, such as gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and some types of dance.
Treatment of hyperextended knee depends on the severity of the injury. Sometimes the damage is relatively minor, with pain and swelling when you try to extend your knee. But a hyperextended knee may also lead to a partial or complete ligament tear, especially in your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). An injury severe enough to cause knee joint swelling, instability, impaired motion or pain should be evaluated by a doctor. The lads team I look after our keeper did this on Sunday, when taking a goal kick. Good news for mama, lets hope then players who are drafted in for plan B can perform as well

If it is more serious (knowles post about 2nd scan) and a ligament tear has occured then it is 6 to 9 months out, otherwise it's 2 to 4 weeks rest with a elasto bandage on.

That was the news first thing this morning BEFORE FM's post. Fingers crossed that the news on this thread is referring to the second scan!!

The best news we could have hoped for, speedy recovery Mama.
All the better because the specialist surgeon who always treats knee ligament injuries for sportsmen, Richard Steadman, broke his arm skiing last week!
