I've been visiting the Brazil forums a bit lately (stenny's wind up thread etc) and noticed they think they are a much better team than Stoke (and Hull) just cos they can pass the ball a bit, yet they conveniently forget about their piss poor defending and league position. Most posters on here dismiss Brazil as a joke now, and rightly think Stoke are a far better team. I've noticed approx half on here think that Stoke are a better team than Hull but simply havent enjoyed the same good fortune. I want to know what is it that makes a team better? Is it the ability to play a higher standard of football, or the ability to gain points. Where is the line drawn between grimly grinding out results - parking the bus if necessary, and playing total football a la Brazil? Surely only the top 3 can do both. Is looking at the league table the only way to define who is the better team? (I bet Brazil fans havent looked at the table for a month. ) Stoke are often accused by the papers of punching above their weight. Yet we know we have, if anything a lot more in the tank, if only we were allowed to use it. Do we think we are better than how we are actually playing? ie How well we can play if we play to our potential? Would be interesting to know what percentage everyone thinks we are performing at? I would say of late 60% but season so far 80%

The final league table will be the biggest indicator. I don't like Hull but their success can't be dismissed as luck, and we've had a fair bit ourselves as well. West Brom absoloutely deserve to be where they are, and I don't see how they can realistically. objectively argue otherwise?

Well i think that if we played with the same belief away from home as we do at the Brit we would have quite a few more points then we do at the moment. I also feel the quality of the Prem this season is the worse it has ever been as is being shown by the fact the "big 4" all failed to win again this week which makes it twice in a month, when this hadnt happen in over 20 years or something.
We have been amasing at home and have been very average away but all in all i dont think anyone could be dissapointed with the season thus fair and if we could get our 1st away win at the weekend then we will have that off our minds and can hopefully kick on to a New Year where we can settle into the pack of 6 or 7 teams that will pull away from the relegation battle that currently has anyone of 12 teams in a relegation battle!
We are quite a bit better then Brazil and about the same as Hull IMO

80% at home and 20% away.
Our home record says it all, we couldn't ask alot more of them although the Hull and Fulham game were shit.
Away from home we have got to sort ourselves out and take it to the home side a la Newcastle 2nd half. If we maintain home form and get up to 50% of what we can play away from home we should be comfortable.
There are lots of mediocre teams this year that we can and should take points off.
