There is no doubt that Sidibe has played an integral part in our great start to this campaign. His work rate and link up play with Fuller has been excellent, and I think he has significantly improved as a player from last season.
However...We now need to break the mould and start again...We need to stop thinking about 'a replacement' and think more about getting another 'goalscorer' to ease the burden on Ricardo Fuller. If that means bringing in a flair midfielder or two quick wingers,... then that is what we have to do...!We cannot just hope to get in a similar type of player...It would be an almost impossible task.We have to change our style of play...With Delap out injured too, the problems/injuries are mounting.! We really need to make some drastic changes to our personnel, as if we don't then, the alternative is simple...Relegation.

1 defeat in 8 Mumf- sure Saturday was shocking but we are another point closer- the transfer window opens soon and we need to players in quick. We had a thin squad as it was and as you say problems mounting. One thing we are achieving is at last being difficult to beat- Kitson doesn't look the answer for me and we need to vary things a tad now attacking wise agree. Would be nice to pick up points at Blackburn and/or West Ham and then get things moving asap in January.

I agree mumf, whilst Mama's out we need a tad more creativity in our midfield instead of always bypassing it with long balls especially now with Ric and Cress up top.
I'd go for...
Soares Whelan Faye Tonge
On saturday and try and get at em and down those wings and fire in crosses.

CBP- yep wouldn't be a bad shout but I thought Whelan was awful v Fulham.

Yeah but we saw how good he was away at Castle and boy on his day he can pick a pass to the wings or forwards, otherwise it'll be Olly and Faye but i'd go for Whelan and give the lad a bit of a well deserved run in the side.

Lets be honest, to a great extent what we have achieved so far, has been done on the back of Rory Delap, and Sidibe's flick-ons...
That is now history.

not a critism but an observation
tp would rather play with muscle and defensism if that was not the case he would not be paying kitson in the mama role
not pretty but effective, and our transfer policy in january will reflect this
if we played two out and out wingers (soares and tongue) we would get the best out of kitson

I agree salopstick, we would indeed.
Oh and is defensism actually a word? lol.

I've just started a similar thread, getting at the same point mumf.
I think Mama's been sensational this season, and has really surprised me. He made our very basic gameplan kind of work. Without him, we're floundering.
I'm certainly not sure Kitson is the answer either, but we'll never get a chance to find out while we keep asking him to do a very dodgy Mama impression, because of the confines of our system and the lack of creative options to play any other way.
But, rather than tear up the whole Pulis gameplan, I'm sure TP will just roll with the punches and bring in a like-for-like Mama to continue playing in that unique role.

I agree salopstick, we would indeed. Oh and is defensism actually a word? lol. it is now but i believe if he had got ledley in august and lawrence had been fit this would have been our midfield lawrence - - 2 from seyi, salif, amdy (maybe glen if tp was felling really ambitious0 - - ledley and we would have seen a different kitson the big problem with losing lawrence was our lack of goals and threat from corners

I doubt the tactics/formation will change. The manager obviously believes in his system and will continue to use it. To be fair, 20 points from 17 games justifies it in my eyes, so I'm sure it will in his.
I expect Cresswell or Pericard to see us through until we either get Mama back, get Kitson back, or get to the window and sign someone.
Just a thought though? I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him give George a run out in there. He pushed him forward there in one or two earlier games.

Didn't George play up top in a few games for wolves too, i'm sure i've seen him play up front before.
Good shout is that.

The way we play with Mama in the team is great imo. We mix it up and launch it long. We can do this as Mama wins 90% of the headers. He is vital to this so we need t change. We didn't change against Fulham and kept booting it long. TP hasn't tried to play a different and if he has he always tried someone who wants the ball at their feet in the Mama role and it hasn't worked. This really is a worry for me because will TP adapt or just keep doing it with Cressy/Pericard/Kitson when fit up there? It may work but it didn't against Fulham. We need a fundamental switch in the way we play now. We need to play long balls but into feet. The problem with this is we have to be more accurate with our passing. We could play Cort/Seyi up there but that would be desperate imo. We have the players to play a better passing game (not saying play like Brazil before some cunt insuates that) because the hoof to Fuller and Cressy doesn't work!

we'll persevere with our tactic and my prediction would be Vince at home, Cresswell away

But, rather than tear up the whole Pulis gameplan, I'm sure TP will just roll with the punches and bring in a like-for-like Mama to continue playing in that unique role. I can agree with most of that, but the BIG problem is the budget. The kind of players needed to achieve a change of tactical play start at £5 million and upwards.I think we need at least three players to get anywhere near a new game plan. I agree with you about Kitson too, and perhaps a solution maybe is to offload him or possibly part-ex him in exchange for someone else.I doubt if Pulis will swallow his pride and do this however. The other option is either more of the same, or to go abroad with our searches. You can get bargains overseas, but the gamble is always that bit greater, as in most cases the standards are inferior in most continental leagues. The one thing you can guarantee is that the prices in January will be sky-high and I expect us to be out-gunned in the money stakes at least once. I suppose it all depends on what Peter Coates' bdget is,and what mandate Pulis has been given....£10 mllion ...£15 million...?

I'd quite like to see Lawrence and Ledley/Pennant(Twat) on the wings and then a fully fit Kitson up front, would bring the best out ov Kito. Still stick by him and think he's a great player. Get fit Kito
