we already needed a pacy striker. now we need a guy who can play in the "mama" role.
i cant think of anyone who can play in that role, maybe Kevin Davies but they wont let him go

I think Mama is irreplaceable to be honest with what he brings to our team and style of play.

Said it before, will say it again, Mama's mate Freddy Kanoute will do just fine for me :-)

I think Mama is irreplaceable to be honest with what he brings to our team and style of play. i agree with you totally, Mama is unique and irreplaceable, but we cant have Cresswell and Pericard as our back up even when Kitson gets back. i think we might have to go abroad. that tall guy up front from FC Cluj wouldnt be too bad

Are either of them good enough in the air?
Harewood's got the athleticism, but he's more of a Fuller lone forager than a Mama, isn't he?
And Camara probably the same.
Neither would be comfortable playing in the deep-lying, selfless role Mama trundles away in, with his colossal leap and energy.
I don't think there are many about who could be shoehorned into doing what he's been doing for us,and making our system work as it has been doing?

Camara possibly isn't, have to admit I was thinking more of him as a back up for when Fuller is injured/suspended.
Harewood is decent in the air I think, and his work rate suggests he could fill the Mama role. He ran the show when West Ham came to the Brit a few years back and has had reasonable success in the Prem.
Realistically, who could we attract who's better?

Realistically within the Premiership....no one!

I think we bite the bullet and bring in something different. I very much doubt we’ll find someone else who can play Mama’s role as good as the big man himself. There’s not many players out there that are unselfish enough. The role hardly brings in the plaudits and the modern game is all about “celebrity” – that’s what makes Mama that bit special.
He’s 100% Stoke and is happy to let others take the limelight.

I just don't see him as a Mama. I think he'd be a fish out of water there. I've never thought of him as a targetman type who'd be able to come close to giving us what Sidibe does. He seems the type who thrive on goals and hanging on the shoulder of the last man. And I just get the feeling the selfless running, and competing for ball after ball in the air, 30 yards from goal, would grind him down, when it came at the expense of goal chances and time in their area.

get a loan and a permanent striker in, Manucho from United on loan and Zigic from Valencia on a permanent ship out Vince and Cresswell.

To be fair I dont see Wigan letting go of Camara at present, he's been featured quite a bit and with Zaki injured and probably leaving for bigger and better things, I doubt Camara would leave to be Fullers back up as he is already back up for a team higher up the table.
Harewood on the other hand is pretty much surplus to requirement at Villa especially if they strengthen in Jan.
Anyone reckon a decent attacking midfielder in replacement for Mama at the moment, then when he is back perhaps he can go back to his normal role and we would be a bit better in midfield?????????

Depends who Wigan bring in. If they sign Mido, as is the rumour, and Zaki stays then it's a possibility? Big "if" though as you say.

i think, for these last three games over christmas, and untill we get a striker in, in january we should play soares up front.
but i think we should go for harewood. like others have just said, he's the only striker who could realistically play the mama role, and he's already had a few seasons in the prem which would mean that he wouldnt need as much time to adapt the pace of the prem, as other player would if we were bringing in a player from outside the country
