On the old rivals site there was a section where some of us put our all time Stoke team in. It's all gone now though.
I got reprimanded because I didn't pick Hudson!

Great team Dave!!!!Only argument Id give is Frank Mountford instead of Marsh and I'd find a place for the Magnificent Abdoulaye Faye. To consider anyone else from the last 20 years is a joke ,-They only played at the lower level!!!

This thread give's your own personal glory years away. So I'm 46 and first saw Stoke in 1969.
1 Gordon Banks or Peter Shilton 2 Lee Dixon 3 Mike Pejic 4 Mickey Thomas (close run thing, could have gone for Steve Bould or John Mahoney) 5 Dennis Smith 6 Alan Hudson 7 Stanley Matthews (never saw him but on reputation and statistics alone) 8 Jimmy Greenhoff 9 Mark Stein 10 Garth Crooks (sorry, but he was good) 11 Terry Conroy
Mentioned in dispatches would be: Howard Kendall, Paul Bracewell, Mark Chamberlain (based on the one season where he was world class), Peter Hoekstra and Alan Bloor.
Of the current crop, Fuller would make the bench
Manager would have to be Waddo. Assistant Manager would now be a toss-up between Pulis and Durban.

davestokies XI is prett definitive I feel
for me based on reputation really:
Banks
right back is tricky either Marsh,McCue or McGrory
left back Pejic over Allen
CB'S no contest Franklin & Denis
RW Stan of course LW Joe Johnson over Conroy Midfield Soo & Hudson
upfront Steele & Ritchie
no Greeenhoff in this line up & loads of others too Violett,Jimmy Mcilroy,Skeels,Mountford,Dobing.

Banks Palmer Pejic Viollet Smith Schtaniuk Conroy Greenhoff Ritchie Hudson Burrows/Salmons/Chamberlain/Gleghorn. I found the wide left role the most difficult to choose any one of these would be OK.
Subs. Farmer Dixon Bloor Skeels Stein Dobing Fuller

First saw Stoke in 1965 so not including Matthews or Franklin although everything I have read says they would certainly get in an all time team.
Banks
Marsh Smith Dodd Pejic
Conroy Hudson Mahoney Salmons
Ritchie Greenhoff
