Sanford, I've just realised I know Carling I'm the same age as him, and Pulisball at its dullest is the worst football I have ever seen, especially during his first spell constantly, and last season for a lot of the time, though mildly better than first time around (was this due to the loanees doing their own thing and ignoring Pulis? Probably, TP reverted to extreme longball towards the end which remarkably coincided with the loanees turning wank). I haven't seen enough this season to definitively comment, but I can tell you that for 90% of Pulis matches I have been more entertained waiting for an egg to boil.
I agree with Carling- football is primarily part of the entertainment industry and a results based business second, although with so much money now in the game it has become essential to get results or else you're gone. Of course, winning is the name of the game and we're doing that (of sorts, except for this shit run) so Pulis gets my vote for the moment, but he is far from an ideal manager.
I still hate him, but I'm not calling for his head.

Carling...theres no denying sometimes (Not always) it aint pretty but the fact is it works. The fact is, Dino that we all sincerely hope it works this time and doesn't bring us up short like it has previously. This time we pray the missing ingredients, alluded to by carling and UKTony, that are obvious to us all are acted upon. The manager has done great so far this season. Now if he wants to turn that into a season of great management he has to do the necessary. It probably means him going against his usual methods and instincts but we really must have those bits of quality, composure and pace adding whilst we are in such good shape. He has changed many spots so far this season and surprised/delighted many of us, including me. Now lets do the rest.

Re Pulis' first spell. The 2004/05 season was indefensibly dire. However, that only accounts for under half of that spell. He did well to keep us up in 02-03 and 03-04 was a decent season of consolidation.

When has the football been better? Maybe, Macari, Durban, Gudjon, Boskamp?

Durban was before my time, but wasn't it him who said "if you want entertainment, go and watch clowns"?
The football under Gudjon was frequently awful. There were times when it was as bad if not worse as anything under Pulis.
Don't want to get involved in the Boskamp-Pulis debate again, but I personally never bought into the "sexy football" myth. At home we were often dreadful. The Tamworth and SOuthampton games were as bad as anything I've seen at the Brit.

But the fact is that we were entertained. You can outweigh the balance of the Tamworth and Southampton debacles with the demolitions of Norwich and Brighton. And also his after match interviews were worth his tenure at least ;D

Not really a fact though is it? You can counter-balance the poor games last season with the demolitions of Leeds, Cardiff and Norwich.
Take your point about his interviews, especially learning that "the Asians are coming" and that he "wasn't really a man" ;D

RE: Bjarni and (to other extents) Marteinsson, Viander etc
I don't think Bjarni was Pulis' kind of man, but we all know that there was far more at play than just the manager here. The board wanted rid of him as Gudjon's son and I don't think we'll ever know what happened with Marteinsson and Viander. I remember the Oatcake describing Viander as 'nothing more than an average keeper with a good knowledge of English swear words' but Marteinsson was a tidy defender. The board wanted shot of Gudjon's bunch of late signings and that's just what happened.
Pulis had enough about him not to be ignorant enough to get rid of Sergei though (he played every game barring suspension and the circumstances in which he left were most unfortunate).

Hello again Jarhead,
Would you rather we were promoted playing the kind of football we play at the moment (which ranges from dire to very good) or played a carpet football total passing game and finished mid-table?

Im not saying we are crap or anything like that and we all know we had to pick performances up from early on in the season and new players and hard work has helped, this run we are on we have a great chance of getting up who can't see that but we have to start winning asap, but in the past we all know Pulis has been an utter liar and a twat that nothing was ever his fault when we failed or he failed tactically which was alot last season.
I want honesty. He rarely gives it. At Qpr we needed to win and score more goals, yes? we had 6 defenders on the pitch by trade and Simmo! we drew!!!
We won't probably go up again because of his daft cautious tactics, thats mine and so many others worry of him.
The Hoefkens debacle. The backing of 'Power n Pace Pericard' his words.

Im right behind the whole club and truly believe we can do it but its up to TP to prove to every critic he has and not just stoke fans that he has it in him and with still plenty of money to spend and we all know what players/positions need strengthening but will he get them in or see what we all see. Again his decisions will make or break this great chance this season AGAIN,He blew it last season i hope he proves me wrong this.

That's exactly how I, and I'm sure thousands of others feel, Jarhead! But I also believe that at the moment something is being done, so the whole club gets my full support for the time being.
It is now, this month, during the transfer window, to see if PC and TP really have the nads for it, or if the season this far has just been a bit of a fluke... I suspect it's a bit of both to be honest, but PC is splashing the cash so let's just cross our fingers and hope that TP doesn't piss it (the cash and indeed the whole season) up the wall!
