umm, did someone forget to tell Stoke that its more goals than the oppostion that gets you places. another draw (granted againt a decent team away) but now only 4 points from 12. i thought today, as against Newcastle, Creswell was crap, even playing in his favorite position. he get disposessed every time he tries something. Parkin was , as usual, non existent. Fuller good goal but he really needs to play more football instead of playing the petualnt child every time he gets tackled, disposessed etc. besides Pugh , nothing from midfield, were lawrence and eusatce even on the pitch??? somethings got to give, goals have got to be scored to continue this run, or it will quickly become just another tease at the top of the table season

Are you typing this on your Blackberry, fromafar? You seem to be one of the few people at the game who didn't think it was a good performance.

I agree with all but one of the above posters
(Only 3rd point taken off Ipswich at home all season ... now if we don't win next Satdee, then you'll have good reason to moan)

in a season where the team is going nowhere i would consider it a good result, but in a season where they SEEM to be doing something ido not think it was a good result. for gods sake that is 5 draws in a row. where in hell are they going to go with draws?? total lack of imagination and drive up front fro what i could hear listening on the radio in America. nothing in midfield from what i read on bbc stoke's live cmmentary. a draw is not a loss but it aint 3points closer to the top either

They haven't lost a home match since March '07.
A draw in what sounded like a very decent game is very creditable.
The only poor show in recent weeks has been the Hull game - and that really was dire!

I can see what he means, we need to snap out of this run of draws sharpish if we're gonna continue to be serious about going up. But, this is a very good result.

hate Pulis?, not at all ,he has done a pretty damn good job with the team he has.. i just am not a fan wearing blinders who thinks just beacuase they didnt lose and drew AGAIN, makes it a good result. remember there happens to be a few teams above us who seem to keep winning and a few teams chasing happy for our draw too..like Ipswich

fromfar07 - if we hope for the play offs then we carry on drawing, start winning our home games then we go up in the top 2. In all my time following Stoke this is now time to just back the team will full 100% positivity, not your bollocks.. Cmon Stoke...

The radio 5 commentators said it was a cracking game, belying its 1-1 scoreline. A lot of teams (and their fans) would be happy with a point away at Ipswich and we would have nicked it if the ref had given a penalty for the obstruction on Parkin.

Fromafar - No team wins every game. If you actually look at the last five drawn games, you'll see that only one of them was a bad result. Perhaps you've lost some perspective living so far away.
Barnsley 3-3 tricky place to go, good result. Plymouth 2-2 tricky place to go against a team with play off aspirations Hull 1-1 Shit result, shit performance, no excuses. Newcastle 0-0 Good performance against mega-bucks prem side. Ipswich 1-1 great result against a team unbeaten at home all season.

4th in the league, stop moaning.
A win against Preston and we'll be back on track, we've not lost in 13 games FFS!
3 of the last 4 games have been away at teams with very good home records so we've done very well!

what stupid comments fromafar. draws against a side with owen, viduka, duff, a side unbeaten at home, another side with a 7,3,1 wdL ratio when we played them, a trip away to a side closer to france than stoke (not to mention they are hovering around the playoffs). then you have the cheek to say players played bad due to your excellent online sources. fuck off

It's an excellent draw, getting us a point closer to Watford, who are losing it (If Watford sell King, they really are losing it) and I'm not concerned about Brizzle City. They've not hit a bad patch yet. WBA are certs to go up, and the battle is to join em in the top 2.
Main concern is we're getting stretched. Fuller & Cressy on 8 bookings and an injury could happen any time now. Mama in africa will affect us more than we like to think, as he makes life so much easier for our attacking players. We can't expect a new striker/attacker to hit it off immediately if we bought one in Jan window.
If we get past the Mags, that would give a mother and father of all confidence boosts (it was 75 when we last beat top flight in the cup), and give coates confidence to spend in Jan with Arse money coming in. Whoever we buy has to fit in quick. Real quick. If we don't buy, we depend on 3 things: luck, fuller and cressy playing above themselves and other teams falling all over themselves.
But the feeling remains in me, we could sneak that 2nd spot. Playoffs I'd rather not think about...

Great result if we win next week

Fromafar obviously wasn't at the game. Having just arrived home, the only true word he stated was that Cresswell was crap.
Eustace was excellent, as was Delap, and after a shaky start, we were the better of the two sides and could easily have got the win.
As for Pugh, he proved once again that the position we brought him in to play is actually his weakest position as he really struggled to get into the game.
A good point, providing we beat Preston at home next week!

Is fromafar really a Stoke fan or just a Vale fan tring to wind us up.
If you really are a Stokie, read Robvanduersen's post higher up, as he sums up the poor draws you seem to despise so much.
Oh and while you're at it why not ask the 11 out of 13 other championship sides (the ones who Ipswich beat) whether they think a draw at Portman road is a good result or not!

Great Post RVD83
I think that anyone looking on "fromafar" could see 5 draws and think that this was poor form. However, when you break this down and realise that 4 of these were in the league, 3 of which were away from home (against bogey away sides in Barnsley and Plymouth and Ipswich have a tremendous home record) we'll all agree that we're not doing too bad!! Hull at home could actually be a blessing in disguise - if we ever wondered how much we relied on Ricci then it was discovered in this game. I have always reckoned that in order to gain promotion you need to draw away and win at home - thus achieving 2 points per game. Not one team is doing that in the Championship which just goes to show how wide open it is. Stoke are in great form and we should applaud them for it - A win against Preston should put us right back amongst the top 2 spots.

Well I enjoyed the game I have to say. We should have been 1-2 up at half time. All in all though the game really could have gone either way. Dicko made a cracking clearance off our line and their keeper made a fantastic save to stop Fuller at the other end. I enjoyed the first half more than the second , but a draw away at Ipswich with their form is a great result. The old addage win at home draw away has never been more relevant in a league so close as this. I think yesterday proved that we still don't have an answer for the left wing and it must be our priority next signing.
