As much as i'm looking forward to the trip to St. James' on Wednesday im not looking forward to looking down at the pitch and wondering who is who for 90 minutes or more! Just look at this fabulous view.. Still... at least we won't get neckache watching Newcastle hoof the ball out of defence constantly after our wonderful carpet football and constant attacking play .. EDIT: Dont know if you can see the picture, wont work for me! ??? so, here's the link, bottom picture shows the rough view us Stokies will get to enjoy! www.stadiumguide.com/saintjamespark.htm

And that is the view from the centre of the top tier, the away fans sit in the corner and have an even worse view!!

Just for you worrit'ers you do realise that picture was taken with a wide angled lens (approx 15-20mm) where as your eyes are equivalent to approx 55mm.
In other word you'll see a bloody whole lot more than that picture shows!

This is a true observation. Ive been to St James Park dozens of times and when the away team scores at the Gallowgate end (opp away fans) it takes about half a second for the away fans to go mental.
I remember the Pompey game this season and my mate turned to me and said "oh fuc .." and then I recall looking up and seeing 1000 Pompey fans going nuts.
I'm no scientist but this fraction of a second difference must be the time it takes for the away fans to process the mental images given the 1/4 mile distance it has to travel.
Bizarre.
