I'd much rather take a play off place or better than a FA cup run. GPG Gouranga.

Fuck off Twatlock what do you know about football. We will beat Newcastle and take Arsenal to a draw. It would give the club tremendous prestige, plus of course nearly another £1,000.000. What utter dribble you talk man.

plenty of teams have missed out on promotion due to an energy sapping cup run
equally plenty of sides have drawn confidence from a good cup run, especially when putting prem sides to the sword.
lets beat Newcastle & then have a go @ Arsenal.
in the unlikely event we also win @ the Emirates then maybe alberts point could be an issue

Would love to do well in the cup, but as you say Albert, the leauge is infinitely more important at the moment. This could be our season for promotion, but our involvement in the cup is bound to affect things. Bookings, injuries etc. could easily cost us vital points in the league, and we can't afford to drop any. I'll be at St. James's on Wednesday, cheeering the ladfs on and hoping for a win, but of the two, the league is my first priority. Obviously the extra money from a cup run would help us, but right now it's not a neccessity, as PC already intends to spend. Here's to a good show on Wednesday, but the end we all want to the season. Come on, Stoke!

What utter dribble you talk man. Dear dear Aldolph didn't take you long to bring down the tone of the MB did it? However to answer your question it would appear I know considerably more than you do. You're so sure we'll beat Newcastle away are you? And just let's say we do but Fuller and Shawcross pick up an injury or a red card, look how bad we looked without Fuller against Hull and Shawcross' influence and goals have been invaluable this season. Add this to the fact that Scholes has already stated that any money generated from a cup run would not be spent strengthening the squad but instead will be used for the general running of the club. As for the prestige it hardly did Millwall any good in 2004 did it, who gave them a beating yesterday? Promotion has to be the number 1 priority for Stoke only that will give us the prestige you appear to want, after all playing the likes of Manure Arsenal Chelski Liverpooh etc week in week out is far better than a 1 off encounter in the cup hoping for a giant killing endeavour. GPG Gouranga.

I agree wholeheartedly albert = the FA cup is the hollandaise sauce -the meat and two veg is the league
promotion is FAR more important and we dont have the squad to run a campaign for both - we arent the only club considering this view of priorities either
and moorlander1 -you are well out of order with your swearing and abuse mate !

Well we ain't gonna beat de Gooners in their back yard. Just as well its Arse after castle, if we had sheff utd at home after castle, we'd be going for it. But thankfully a brave match against Arse and we back onto the main agenda with a pocketful o wad.

what a silly debate
'plenty of teams have missed out on promotion due to an energy sapping cup run'
in case you hadn't noticed of we do manage to beat newcastle (quite a big IF) we play arsenal AWAY, where is the prospect of an energy sapping cup run there!!!!! you must be seriously deluded.
more like 'take the money and run'.
