TP has indicated it was more a case of Liverpool stopping the Pennant deal than Pennant himself?
Does this change our opinion of him at all seeing as he has had a bit of stick on here?

Didnt benitez say that he is deffinetly going to offload him in jan anyway? I think it would be good for us but he is another right sided player and that means soares and lawrence would move in warm the bench.Sounds good to me but i thort it was pennant who couldnt agree personal terms with us not liverpool.

Why would it mean that Soares and Lawrence would warm the bench? Soares is really a central midfielder (or he was at Palace) and Lawrence can play in central midfield (where he did for much of his time at Mansfield, and sometimes at Sunderland or on the left of midfield where he has done once or twice for us.
If we got Pennant I'd be tempted to play (from the right) Pennant, Delap, Lawrence, Tonge -with Soares on the bench as cover for Pennant, Lawrence or Tonge. That would be the most creative midfield we have played for years. And Lawrence and Tonge could interchange positions with no problem.
EDIT: TP did say at the meet the manager evening that the Problem in signing Pennant did not come from the player.

Thats a nice midfield Fornside - but I think we all know that TP is wedded to his two holding midfield players, whether that be Diao, Faye or Seyi. In that case, a move for Pennant would be further competition on the right for Lawro and Soares. IMO we need to make a move for a striker to challenge Mama and Ric (which the flop that is Kitson has failed to do) as a matter of more urgency that another right winger. It would also be nice to get a left-winger and a proper right-back in, although I am very keen to give Tonge a proper run in the side - he's certainly earned it. Added to that, Pennant's questionable attitude - he certainly thinks he is a big-time Charlie - and I don't think a move for Jermaine is necessarily a good idea.

Hmm ... not sure about this as i seem to remember hearing Benitez say that he didn't feature in his plans. That's why we gave Pennant so much shit for not coming as he'd been told he wouldn't be involved ... could be wrong though, killed a few brain cells since then

I wouldn't want to shell out on him but as a loan deal i'd love him to bits. Pacey, confident, good on the ball and has a decent cross aswell. Plus on a loan deal i can see him giving it everything (like Brum) as he'll want to impress to get a move to a bigger club.

I don't want him at Stoke either. Seems like he has a big ego and a don't think playing for Stoke would satify his ego - unless we offer 50k a week On the plus side his work on the pitch would certainly give us a boost.

Most of the top players are big time charlie ego maniacs, not sure that should put us off signing him.

Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has been the victim of a ram raid. The Mirror Pennant, 25, and model Amii Grove, 23, were startled when a stolen Land Rover smashed repeatedly into their front gate. The raiders then sped up the driveway of the £3million, four-bedroom pad in Hale, Cheshire, before stopping at the front door. Cops believe they were after Pennant’s sportscar collection — thought to include a Lamborghini — parked outside. But the men were disturbed when Pennant woke up and ran downstairs. The Land Rover then sped off and was later found burnt out in a nearby field. Pennant said: “It was scary. We were woken up by a huge bang and went downstairs and they were trying to get in. We’re just glad we’re OK.” Do you think a move to stoke is on the cards now boys ha ha
