get is so wrong about how we would fare .? Just look at that shower from Paddy Power....? Eh..? I reckon Derbys disasterous season had a major part to play in their reckoning , plus the fact they vastly underestimated our fantastic team spirit and Rory's long throw. Just as a matter of interest I was talking to some Everton and Blackburn fans over the weekend, and I asked them who they thought would be relegated.None of them mentioned Stoke, which is a reminder as to how far we have already come.! One Blackburn fan said "Blackburn, Sunderland and West Brom.!" I asked the Everton fans "What about Stoke..?" "No chance." came the reply ...."you drew at Anfield and beat Arsenal....you won't go down with Delap and Fuller! " Nice.!

They also had a huge knee jerk reaction to our 3-1 loss at Bolton first game of the season.
The season is far from over yet though, so I wouldn't go around boasting just yet.

The simple answer to that question is that very few of these people have ever been within two miles of the Brit, and relied on the "wisdom" of the likes of Moanbray and Mardew.

The written press and spoken media outlets like to put teams in boxes West brom play good football Stoke are violent long ball thugs etc. It makes their job easier and they'll pick up on thorty seconds footage from 90 minutes action to 'prove they're right!
PaddyPratts used Stoek to drum up cheap publicity and it worked. The amount of coverage they got from their vrain dead scheme would have cost £millions in advertising fees but only £thousands in lost bets.
Several sections of the media will be rooting for Stoke to go down so they can say 'I told you so' but they will brush over it if we prove them wrong, which I'm sure we will.
I was also talking to a Blackburn fan today who was very depressed and he also said he thought Blackburn were in big trouble and he actually went for the same three! Blackburn Sunderland and West Brom.
Time will tell and theres an awful long way to go BUT whatever happens EVEN IF we do go down we have already proved the gap between the Prem and Championship is not insummountable as some would have us believe

lose on Saturday and we're likely to be in the bottom three. Lets not count our chickens yet. I just hope we can hang on in there until the window opens and bring in some quality.

Lets not count our chickens yet. I just hope we can hang on in there until the window opens and bring in some quality. What makes you think quality players will a. be wanted by Pulis? and b. come to play for a long ball side?

If you paid them enough, they'd play for a fucking basketball team.
We have proved the gap isn't as insurmountable as some would have us believe by beating some quality sides, getting some good results, and not being the new Derby as many "experts" tipped us to be.

Agree, we have matched teams playing football i.e. mixing it up. Working some good positions and scoring a decent goal or two while playing to our strengths. The problem is that for long periods in games ALL we do is launch it hoping for throw in. The press have picked up on this and, as hard as it is to take, sometimes they are right. We're to precious sometimes.

No argument there, I just don't think it's a big factor in trying to attract players.

No argument there, I just don't think it's a big factor in trying to attract players. If we had silly money to pay then I agree. The money Stoke pay and are willing to pay (i.e. being sensible as far as the clubs finances go) I don't think we are going to get better than what we have got now.

I think the fact that we've shown we're not going to roll over and die will work in our favour. I can definitely see a Harewood or Camara coming in, and surely to God that improves the squad a bit?
I can see our Smethwick chums struggling to attract people though.

Because everyone hates us and we don't care! I think the national press think we are a parasite on the Premiership. They will be laughing on the other side of there face come the end of the season.

Far too early to get cocky and suggesting that the press and bookies have got it wrong.
It could easily go tits up at any time and particularly with the run of games from Boxing Day.
Let's just keep doing what we're doing and hope that three teams go into free-fall.
Let's hope that there are three teams with the capacity to do just that.

Nobody has or will find a legal way to combat the long throw without cheating.Hull have the answer give us corners,we can't score from them even with all the big players. We could take a leaf out of their book, because of the goals they score from corners. If we could do that we have got it all covered

BAYERN...I was in West Kirby on the Wirral walking the dogs and watching the birdies...
I didn't mention I was a Stoke fan either, so as not to taint their perspective on things.
I also think that Bolton game 'threw' a lot of people...The press especially
