WE are 4th in the league, 4 points of the top as it stands and have never been in a better position to claim a premiership spot. We HAVE to get players in in these positions if we have any chance in my opinion. Whelean , Parry and Earnshaw would give us one hell of a chance. We need players of this ilk even if they are on loan till the end of the season. I hope TP shows no mercy to the likes of Eustace, Delap, Parkin and Pericard who are simply not good enough(Eustace and Delap clearly decent sqaud players). Tp needs to be ruthless now. If he fill these three positions with decent pedigree players I for will be happy and wouldn't be upset if we didn't go up cos we at least had a proper go at it. Failing to identify these three areas or bringing in low caliber players will pi$$ me off and will once again show a lack of ambition when it really is on a plate. Defense is now sorted. With Ipswich and Charlton away in the next few weeks we need to move quickly and not drop silly points like last years window debacle.

once Diao is in & with Pugh playeing as well as he is + Eustace is showing good passsing (@ the very least) I'm not as worried about centre mid as even a week ago.
a pacy leftwinger who can consistently beat his man & get good crosses in is a must.
strikers, good ones,99% of the time cost big bucks so that could be the hardest one to bring in.
2 more decent players & maybe another back up CB & I think we will have enough. add a striker & we are all systems go.

I was really up for having Bobby Zamora he would of been class at Stoke!
I wouldn't mind Darius Henderson from Watford

I am of the opinion that winger will allow cresswell to play up front so im too worried about that position.
For me a left winger is a must !
A creative midfield player and a striker would both be nice, but are not must by purchases at the moment.

Just wanted to throw another name in the hat for the creative midfielder we so desperately need. PAUL GALLAGHER. His loan at Preston ended at Christmas and he has returned to Blackburn. I think playing alongside Salif Diao he could be the playmaker to launch a serious promotion bid.

He's not a central midfielder though, is he?

Unless you meant for him to be playing on the left, but then he wouldn't really be a "playmaker", even though he's awesome.

lordb...What winger consistently beats his man with pace that we can afford?
Lets get real,Demar Phillips is pacy and takes men on like Giggs Ronaldo etc but they cost millions and Don't always beat there man so they would not be good enoughfor us?
We gave Phillips at 23 who is an international player with Fuller a 3yr deal, why aint we played him?

Because the Messiah quite clearly doesn't rate him.

if you play him on left you can still be a playmaker
hoolahan plays on the left for pool and everything comes through him, he is the playmaker for them, comes in side a lot though

Surely the left side midfield player is already here..... Pugh. The key signing now is a better version of Sidibe

Have to say Sime, whilst I am a big fan of Pugh at left back and in particular in the centre of midfield, I was not overly impressed with him on the left wing, didn't appear to take anyone on or put in any decent crosses

Agree about liking him in central midfield but do feel he is a much better option on the left than Creswell or Gallagher for that matter

tbh he looks better attacking wise at left back when he can "bomb on" with out the ball with overlaps etc
very good crosser and passer, hasnt got the pace unfortunately or dribbling skills like lawrence to cut it on the wings
you never know though, only saw him on the left wing against scunny, set up a couple of goals, and on his home debut(cant remember who it was against)

In the middle, Pugh looks so assured and comfortable on the ball, even against Premiership opposition, I think if we move him from there, it will be a big mistake. SIOCH, home debut I think was against Coventry, both he and Cort failed to impress, but they sure have since.
