I am amazed at the flak that Olifinjana gets. Granted he has had a couple of poor games away from home, notably Pompey, but I actually think that he is the one player we have, apart from Tonge, who has shown the ability to be composed, put his foot on the ball and pass it constructively.
He looks a decent player to me and also seems capable of shooting from distance and scoring a goal or two.
Salif should be fined a weeks wages every time he attempts to shoot. I would like to see Rory back in the middle, but it won't happen until January or the return of Lawrence.

Cannot see what qualities Amdy has that warrant his inclusion in the team at all. Salif has been shocking recently, bu Amdy makes Salif look like Steven Gerrard. Hang on a minute fella. Some of the tackles that Salif has been making recently have been top class. I agree that he has a tendancy to make the odd mistake or two but to cast hi aside on a whim would be ridiculous

Amdy does what pulis tell's him to do get stuck in and win the ball for me he does that fantastic. Althought he does give the ball away to cheaply.

I am totally baffled by Pughs omission. However to question our management teams competence on team selection, after what we have achieved is also baffling.A real paradox this.

I'm not. 2 good performances out of two in the middle does not make him a prem standard CM. I personally don't trust him to play well there in the premiership, or in any other position for that matter. I'd be interested in moving Delap into the middle once lawrence is back whenever that will be.

Leaving aside his limitations as a premiership player, (I think he's past his best by a couple of years), he gives away too many silly free kicks in dangerous areas.
He's not a nasty player, but he's clumsy and about a yard short of pace for this division. This is why he gives the free kicks away.
Olifanjana is a yard slow in thought IMHO, and so lacks the necessary focus to succeed at this level. We need a playmaker in midfied, someone who can actually pass accurately and not leave us relying on percentage football. I'd play Whelan, but I'd be equally happy with Pugh.

Lets be honest, if we get relegated this season, it's because of our woeful midfield.
Unfortunately, we have been hurt by the constant poor form/unavailability of Lawrence, other than him, Soares & Tonge, we have some fucking woeful nonsense jostling for position in there, and it frightens me that eventually it is going to cost us.
Diao is hopeless on the ball, but he can put a tackle in. Amdy Faye is just fucking useless, Pugh has had two decent games for us out of plenty, Whelan looks too lightweight for this division, Olofinjana is about £2.7M overrated IMO & Delap, bar his obvious assets, finds it difficult to contribute from the left hand side of midfield, which considering he is a right back is hardly a great surprise.
Our fundamental priority has to be to bring in some quality in midfield, we are desperate for it. Someone capable of getting forward and joining in, putting a tackle in and actually looking like they know what to do when they get the ball. TP's style is well known, but still need quality midfielders if we are going to stay up. With this midfield, we will go down. I'm absolutely convinced of it.

Harsh again on poor old Amdy methinks. I think he's doing OK to be honest apart from the red card against Boro. The problem as we all seem to agree is that Faye and Diao just offer us nothing going forwards when played together. Diao tries to help out but that genearally results in a 30 yard shot going out for a corner. In a team with a more attacking midfielder he'd be fine but as we're creating little from midfield he's being blamed as he's the new boy.

Our best central midfield pairing to date has been Amdy and Olifinjana in my opinion.
Started the games v Villa and Middlesboro if memory serves me correctly and looked a decent pairing until Amdy was sent off v Boro.
We were on top in both games and looking much more creative than we have been of late.
Amdy and Salif as a pairing just don't work, though each have their own qualities.
