lots of people have said hes a good championship player but not good enough to make it in the top flight. Correct me if im wrong but arnt we pushing for promotion? So what are we going to do with "Mr I'd Jump Ship For 10K a Week" When we do make it into the prem???

Well he will fit in at Stoke. We don't have one player who is good enough/proven at premiership level.
Cue dreamers telling us how Fuller will tear up the Premiership.

Shawcross could stand a chance and maybe the keeper when he is on top of his game.
Agreed - lets get there.

It all depands on the team around you also. I think that he would perfom a lot better with a "team" around him. Derby's defence is not exactly full of class players and this will be detrimental to Griff. I think he would be very good for use and when we get promoted, he would still be useful. If you stuck John Terry in Derby's side he too would suffer....... Not that Griffen is being compared to john Terry

Fair quote richgit, TP has just pissed 300k up the wall signing a fullback with premiership experience, the right side of 30 and a proven championship player. What a fucking numpty TP is, fancy signing him when he should have been going for players like Vidic or Carragher players who can cut it in the prem. Sorry to single you out but what a stupid fucking statement.

I reckon some of the players TP has or is trying to sign will cut it in the Prem, whilst others have been signed to get us there. The side will need further strengthening to survive in the Premiership if/when we get promoted. Has there ever been a side which doesn't need further strengthening after promotion or which doesn't have to get rid of players or relegate others to the status of bit part players?

I thought the idea was surely to bring in players that are of the quality and class we need to get out of this division, whilst looking at a premiership plan as well!
Griff is quality, in fact different class in this division and we all said so last season. He had a go at Derby, lets welcome him back with open arms. And as has been said, Derby's defence didnt exactly allow him to look very good, any defence built around players like Darren Moore etc is goin to perform poorly. TP knows how to build a more effective defence me thinks!!

Griffin is a player who has played the whole of his career at Premiership clubs, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Derby, and played in europe. Can't see why people are saying he isn't premier class. We are a championship club, we either have to sign premiership castoffs or untried players, taking a risk. Pulis will not take a risk, hence Philips and deLaet, so this is the only option.

i remember when robson was in charge of Newcastle Griffin was a regular, and deservedly so. I believe with the right frame of mind and team, he can more than cut it in the prem. having said that, cant say you can blame the bloke for being skinned week in week out for derby though, look at some of the wingers in the prem hardly an easy task is it

fact is hes quality, and is of the class that we cant just pass up! 300k is a bargain now, as I reckon to beat derby to his signature back in the summer it would have set us back a lot more and i suspect it would have been on higher wages than he's just agreed to.
Does this go a long way to showing that if you time it right, you get a better deal? well done TP and stoke i say

Personally I believe we have the makings of a premiership squad already - with the potential additions targeted included - Parry, Whelan and a quality partner for Fuller.
Don't see why with Tony's tactics that squad wouldn't right now be in a better position than Derby at least!

why the hell has pulis signed grifin.
the facts.
1)- last season he came on loan, in the first spell he looked very good, as the second spell went on, he looked average of the team we had then, since then we have strengthened the defence with pugh, cort and shawcross.
2) he has no loyalty, and should be ashamed to even tough the stoke city shirt, after all the "i want to sign for stoke crap last season then sneaked off behind our back and signed for derby, dont come out with the any one woudl sign for a prem team. It isnt that he signed for them that is the problem, it is the fact that he lead stoke on with promises of signing frist"
3) he isnt good enough, the last two premier teams - portsmouth he was rotting in the reserves, derby (who are the worst premier ship team in recent history) when he got a game he was gettign mullered every week.
4) the young lads at the back have been doing very well and bringing him in to replace one of them is a real poke in the eye, especially after the newcastle match.
5) with the 300k spent on the muppet and the premier wages he will be demanding, we could have put towards a decent winger.
this signing, im afraid is just a case of pulis again showing his stuborn streak.
"see i always get my man" yeah thats as maybe, but lets just hope it doesent end up bite stoke on the ass.
I can see the form dropping, in defence, both because of grifin (*after his poor performances at derby) being totally out of form and also because of the loss of team spirit replacing either pugh or dicko (if pugh is moved back into midfield) or wilko (i am right in thinking grifin can play lb or rb right?)
grifin at best deserves one position, and that is sub to cover if one of the deserving boys gets a knock.

GermanStokie Spot on its what team is built around you.
At Derby he has got two clowns as centrebacks who are slow clumsy,a midfield that does not help whatsoever so no wonder he looks to be getting mullerded!
How many average premiership players today are average at best but seem to get amazing reveiews or England caps? Phil 'Fuckin' Neville! Lescott! etc etc
Put Griffin in alongside Carragher,Terry,Toure then see if that defence concede's 5s 6s etc?
He is very capable with a solid dogged team around him JUST like a TP team that defends as a team.

Bolerus,so you prefer Buxton and Broomes as back up? And tell me this would you do your job down the road for 8k more a week?
Now get in the fuckin real world you childish fuckin clown.
There is NO LOYALTY in football anymore and who cares because if i was a Stoke player and Derby went up and we were selling our best players off and getting no one in like last pre-season would you of left Stoke for Derby and double your money a week and have ago in the prem because i know i certainly would?
You must be very unambitious and not like to better yourself financially in life to live life a whole lot better.
This crap that he aint good enough shows how much or not you know about football.
