Powerful African Star Wants English Move: Spurs, Man City, Sunderland, Hull, West Brom, Stoke, Wigan & Fulham Alerted Aruna Dindane: On his Way to the Premier League?Lens striker Aruna Dindane is seeking a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window now he is returning to full fitness following a cruciate knee ligament injury. The highly-rated African star is being targeted by the likes of Marseille and PSG but his agent has openly admitted that his client is eyeing a move to England. Dindane’s agent Willie McKay had this to say, “Aruna is working his way back to fitness and he has set his sights on winning a move to England in January”. Prior to his injury the Ivory Coast international was strongly linked to a £8m move to the Premier League but may well be on the move for a far lower price as McKay confirms. The agent confirms this, “”I have spoken to a few clubs who are interested in Aruna and I hope to find him a new club in January. “I believe Lens would want in the region of €10million for Aruna, but I am confident a deal could be done for a lot less than that figure.” The powerfully built Ivory Coast international currently plies his trade for French club Lens but is expected to be sold in January as the team was relegated last season. The English suitors will face stiff competition from a number of French clubs as St Etienne, Nancy and Lyon were tracking the striker prior to his injury setback but whether they remain interested remains to be seen. Ivory Coast Star is Hot PropertyDindane began his career in his homeland with ASEC Mimosas before moving to Anderlecht in 2000. The 28-year-old enjoyed a 5-season stint with the Belgian club where he earned rave reviews and scored 50 goals in 131 League appearances (104 starts). In his time in Belgium he won two League titles and 2 Supercups. He also picked up a number of personal accolades including the 2003 Ebony Shoe as the best African player in Belgium and the Golden Shoe for best overall player in the League. He moved to Lens in the summer of 2005 and has since played 3 seasons in France. Dindane’s record for the club is 25 goals in 90 League appearances. Last season he scored a modest 8 goals in 28 League appearances (24 starts) but couldn’t stop the club being relegated despite reaching the French Cup final and featuring in the Uefa Cup. An operation on a troublesome knee injury will now leave the star out for a number of months though this hasn’t stopped the likes of Man City, Spurs, Stoke, West Brom, Fulham, Sunderland, Hull and Wigan competing for his services. The 5ft 9 striker is also a regular Ivory Coast international with a record of 16 goals in 49 internationals. He featured in the 2006 World Cup where he scored 2 goals in a memorable match against Serbia. The Lens forward suffered a personal tragedy in January 2006 which led to his departure from the African Cup of Nations following the death of one of his twin daughters. The African star can play either centrally or out wide though he is tends to feature on the right-hand side when playing for club and country. He is expected to move in January if he can prove his fitness though has yet to feature for Lens this season who top the table in Lique 2. community.footballpools.com/blog/2008/11/27/aruna-dindane/

It does say powerfully built as well. He reminds me, when I have seen him play, a bit of Obafemi Martins - strong, chunky and quick. Surely he would provide a decent alternative to Ricardo in the role of quick skilful forward to play off Mama?
