Was in Delilahs on Sat pre game and was approached by Monica asking if the team had been announced... I have to say that Monica sits within my hall of Stoke city fame after all these years.. Does anyone know if monica still travels up to every game ? Respect if so....

Thing is there's issues like the section 27 victims at Irlam and those things and Monica was actively campaigning about things like that way back in the 70s. From my time in the FSA I know how thankless it can be. Many people would prefer to moan than actually take some action.

The occasional Caribbean Cruise and quirk of the Rail time table means that Monica misses the odd game but apart from that she gets to pretty well every one, home and away. And as Jo says she gets to many England games and is still active nationally in the FSF.

I'm pretty sure Les was born wearing those shorts- I saw him down the Mich on Saturday and I can tell you it was absolutely bloody freezing!

Monica is one of the FSF Vice-Presidents and rarely misses a National Council meeting - they are held on Sundays so it's often another long journey on the day after a match.
Jo - As you say it can be thankless, but it can also be rewarding when we get some sort of a result, which, believe me we will do, eventually, on this section 27 thing.

Re Les, who loves his shorts, a recent tale for those who marvel at what Les has where the rest of us mere mortals have blood. After the recent Rotherhama C Cup match, he was driving two of us back to London (no trains mid-week) when his car broke down, just as we were leaving the A50. After one towing and two recovery lifts, we arrived in Battersea, where Les lives, at 4.00. am and he was still wearing his shorts and the leather slippers he drives in. I had shuddered in the back of the car, all swaddled up, as he stood out on the road, talking to the various rescuers, stoical as ever. But I have seen him wearing a suit and he looks a killer, believe me, not only when attending a dinner, but at my Mum's funeral at Carmountside. The friend who came with him was so embarrassed, as he sat in Les's scar and realised that Les was wearing shorts. But without saying anything, Les pulled off at Stafford services and changed into smart suit, etc. One for respect but hates normal gear. I intend to attend every league match, this season. In fact this very day, Lakeland, Tony (husband) has booked a cruise for us, for Feb 10th - 18th, which just happens to be league-match free. Have to make some concessions.
