Middlesbrough, Stoke check on Belgian talent

Middlesbrough and Stoke City were represented at Belgium's friendly international in Luxembourg last week.
Boro and Stoke have been active in the Belgian transfer market this season, with the former keen on Standard Liege pair Steven Defour and Axel Witsel.

Thursday 20 November 2008Manchester United leaves no chance of seeing Axel Witsel work. For this reason the English club had requested a ticket for the international on Wednesday between Luxembourg and Belgium (1-1). Witsel had been injured however slightly and pulled out. Man United could not see the midfielder of Standard therefore to work. Beside Man United, also Anderlecht, Dender, Metz, Middlesbrough, Saint-Etienne, Stoke City, Tubeke and the Spanish FA were present in the Josy Barthelstadion.
