as me and my 11 year old daughter are season ticket holders in block 11 of the jon smiths our seats are at the back which backs on to the disabled concourse bit,now im not tight with my money or anything and during every home game this season she locates her bottle of coke just behind her seat in the corner awy from people as to avoid getting it knocked over at 2 pound a throw seein as stoke and the stewards think that the plastic top is,or can be described as an offensive weapon, the last 2 home games i have decided to buy my daughters bottle b4 entering the ground as to save getting it constanly knocked over even though it cant be helped as already this year we are seeing the kind of mentals as we witnessed under the messiah no1 lou macari, anyway on entering the the ground me and my daughter were suddenly surrounded by 4 to 5 big stocky fukin idiots who call themselves stewards as to them tell her that she must take the bottle top off as it is legislation at the brit and if she didnt then she would not be let in the ground.as i argued with them over the way my daughter was approached the so called head fukin idiot come over to tel me that it was nothing personal,NOTHING FUCKIN PERSONAL when 4 stewards who lets say were of the asian pursuasion surround an 11 year old, does it make em feel big or something, any way after once again taking her get another bottle of coke during half time as i was in the toilet somebody was caught smokin and told to put it out straight away, which he did, then the little jumped up twat of a steward came over to him and carried on harrasing him as which the bloke, probably 50 but an absolute beast of a man told him hed done what he was told to do,apolagised as well but still this little twat then proceeded to tel him he was going to be removed from the ground and grabbed the big fellas arm to which he was then duly told,"AND DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU ON YOUR OWN ARE CHUCKING ME OUT"what a pisser, then there was an almighty scuffle which led to a lot of angriness, then i beckoned a steward over to ask him why is it ok to remove a plastic bottle top off an 11 year old girl but blokes 3 times her size can bring big metal flasks into the stadium,i was then then duly told to take it up with john alcock which i did last season about other incidents in this block, and to beat it all that its because you can screw the lid bak on abottle of coke then use it as a missile,if you can do that with abottle of coke then what the fuck do you do with the top of a flask.........also then i was advised from now on to bring my daughters coke in yes youve guessed it"a fuckin flask"now come on stoke,we r premier league,on the telly,in the papers on the radio, where o where do we get these fukin wasters who look like they should be at the fukin oval or cutting some doner fukin meat, one thing i wil promise though as i said to the stewards as when all the glory hunters who struggle stand up let alone sing a fukin song are gone and the boys are bak together in block 11 and it wil go off one time and they in for the shock of there life cus theres not enough of them to cope,i can see it happenning very soon and theres not a fukin thing theyll be able do,any1 for block 11 against derby, sort it out stoke.please, these fukin idiots are ruining mine,me kids and every1 else around me there hardworked for matchdayNOW FUCK OFF and go be a steward on fukin valentinos car boot, you might find some bargains.or ya fukin grandads flipflops,,,,,,,city til i die

They are total jobsworth owd. Walk through the concourse like they own the joint. I know they have a job to do but the when in which they do it i.e. smug bastards who think they are 10 men because they wear a high vis jacket is winning them few friends. The bottle top rule is a joke and the way in which they treated your daughter a scandal. Complain to the club owd.

sorry you've had a bad experience on this, it does wind me up, if knocked mine over a few times.
2 options
1 is to hide it, my preffered method, back of jeans with long jacket over it, and it also means you aint giving the club cash over this contentiou issue
2 , bring a few spares tops off old bottles in your pocket .
I think the argument is that a plastic bottle is disposable, and a flask actually costs money .
On the subject of Flasks , great for bringing all manner of things into the ground, expecially booze, when was the last time someone had the contents of their flask checked, or got caught drinking tea in view of the pitch, i'm not a drinker, but I know some are ....spirit and mixer in a decent flask, always cold whatever the weather, and you can drink it in the stands too ;D

I'm a bit confused why the fact that they were of Asian "persuasion" (think you actually mean ethnicity) has to do with anything. If I were you I'd leave that bit out of any complaint as it isn't relevant and may make you look racist.

i have to admit when i was down for spurs game, the stewards were walking about thinking they were bloody bouncers. different sort of steward than i'm used to anyway. if only they realised that taking a more laid back approach to the job, there would be less aggro + they'd get more respect.

My kid knocks one over every time so i can sympathise with you on that but, you have to go with the rules, it's less hassle inteet

Nope - it doesn't work like that. By the same token calling a black player a "black bastard" is racist - calling him a bastard isn't racist.

Incidentally, why don't you do what many people do and bring another bottle top into the ground to use when the stewards remove the original one? I think it is a daft rule to remove the tops but the stewards don't make the rule they only enforce it - ie they are doing their job.

How is you and your daughter being season ticket holders relevant to this story?
Why did you need to make that point right at the beginning?
Should ST holders get treated differently or something?

Cheers mokie - I thought it was perfectly clear that I hadn't said he was racist (just that he might be seen as being racist) - obviously, you are correct some of our fellow posters didn't read it that way.
Spare bottle tops is the real answer though. ;D

I think maybe because he's trying to come over as someone special. I think his comment "should be cutting some doner fukin meat" and further comments may be a teeny weeny bit racist, in my opinion of course.

have i offended you lakeland with my comments about the oval and doner meat?listen mate let 4 or 5 blokes"whatever race" surround your 10 year old and come across the way do and you not be angry as fuk,its the policies and intimidation and threat they come across with that bears the brunt with me,as for me own bottle tops ive done that to and on 1 occasion had it removed, and no dave the rave i dont expect special treatment cus im a season ticket holder whatsoever mate,i was just trying to explain my whereabouts in the ground........it boils down to this pure and simple, the stewards are a fukin knightmare and will end up causing more trouble in the longrun than preventing it.

well if you're not calling his comments racist Lakeland I will
my daughter were suddenly surrounded by 4 to 5 big stocky fukin idiots
when 4 stewards who lets say were of the asian pursuasion surround an 11 year old
their colour is irrelevent unless you are insinuating that asians are more intimidating, and coupled with your first statement insinuates you think all asians are idiots
where o where do we get these fukin wasters who look like they should be at the fukin oval or cutting some doner fukin meat
Racial sterotyping that all asians like cricket and work in kebab houses

I thought white cricketers were allowed to play at the Oval. Don't Surrey play there and I'm sure they have some white players?
And if you want to mention a cricket ground why not mention Trent Bridge or Old Trafford or even Edgebaston - all three are nearer than the Oval.
