I've combined it with a 'factfinding trip' that my boss had asked me to do in Newcastle. So I've arranged the trip for Thursday, which means my boss pays for my petrol and the hotel on Wednesday night. All I had to pay for was the ticket!

Cost around £80 I'd say.
plus loss of a days work and 10% bonus for week .......
real cost to me will be in excess of £250
