Now don't get me wrong both very good players, who have done a sound job for us this season, but the more i watch them the more i think they are both suited too the same role.
Both are ideal defensive midfielders, to sit in-front of the back-four, break play down and seek the short pass, now fair enough, this role is crucial and we need someone who is going to do that, but it seems that Faye and Diao, both adopt the same role in games, thus meaning no creativity through the middle.
Ide be tempted to play them together in tough away trips, when a point is a great result, and we are likely to weather more pressure from the opponents, but certainly at home i think we can take the game to anyone, and maybe its time too start whelan alongside one of them at home, let him try and open things up, and give us another option in attacking.
Two bigs games coming up, two victorys i would like to think, and with Fuller absent on saturday, we need some more creativity in the side, so i hope whelan starts somewhere across the midfield.

That's a bit racist.

The thing with playing them together is taht they both sit deep and invite the opposition onto us. We give the other sides midfield far too much space and time on the ball when we only play these two in the CM.

Doesn't Old Stokie have a master-plan to give all the black players different coloured caps or dye their hair or summat? That should sort it out! ;D Or have I missed the point Luke?

I can't recall anything that Amdy has done, apart from the ridiculous challenge at Boro. He is no more than a bench warmer and we have enough quality to team Salif up with someone more creative. We have got to start using Whelan, Soares and Tongue more.

I thought Amdy was excellent against Villa and against Arsenal. He has more pace than Salif and can get forward more, but lacks the calming presence that Diao at his best possesses. He's decent back up for Salif IMO, but they probably are too defensive-minded to both play (I think you could argue that Whelan is as well though?).
I'd give Michael Tonge a whirl in the centre, with Diao holding and Soares and Delap on the flanks.

It's the fact that they are simiar that means Pulis keeps picking them both. Good at sitting back, poor going foward, little passing ability. They have helped with keeping the score down at our end by offering more defensive protection, but the offer nothing at all going forward. We need more than that.

I agree. And I think Soares should come in this weekend and Tone should leave Amdy out. Lets go at 'em!
