but were away instead ...
Do you think Pulis would start with the same* 11 and use the same tactic(s) as he did at Old Trafford?
*as this is a hypothetical question, Fuller wouldn't be suspended.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't say so, i think he has different tactics for away games against top 4 teams than he does against other sides away, fair enough wigan was similar, but in all honesty that was just a dire game from both sides, but certainly at man city i felt we took the game to them, more than we did at anfield and old trafford, i think the anfield games gave him the confidence to take the same approach at Old Trafford, nobody has a specific method of going to Old Trafford and being successful, you take the best approach you can, and that game boiled down to a gulf in class more than anything.

Does that mean that if we were at the Emirates or Stamford Bridge this week then you think he would start with the same game plan and team as last Saturday?

One thing you can never criticise Super Tone for is confusing things by having an array of tactics. People often compare his style with the Macari years but this is simply untrue. Lou often mixed things around and you were never quite sure what team or formation he would put out at aweay games.
I've always said Tone will never change style as we progress but will do the same better with better players. I think this is born out by what we are seeing so far.
In short the answer is a resounding yes.

I think he would, or at least very similar. As I said on another thread, I believe that he will not change and will be looking at the two 0-0 draws we have as being just a set piece, Ricardo bit of magic, away from 3 points. I think he will continue in the same way, hoping for one or two 1-0 away wins, but at the same time gratefully accepting any draws we pick up along the way. It could be argued that we only need a couple of wins away from home to add to the tally. 8-10 points away would be a good contribution and I think he will be thinking along those lines.

Would it have helped if I had put the "general style" Dave?
I could have run to "overwhelmingly used style" if it had saved me from that daft observation.
;D

yes, I almost added that maybe the Derby formation and result was the exception that proved the rule

Well if he chooses the 4 in midfield that played against manu we would play exactly the same way.The same 4 were picked for Wigan which is arguably one of our more winnable games against a lower prem team. So the plan from TP is 2 banks of 4 keep it tight and keep a clean sheet...occassional hoof up to Ricci and hope we get something on the break or a throw from Rory. Will he continues with this for our next away game?...Might depend on our next 2 home game performances...but I think he will ALWAYS go for the defensive tight option away from home. That strategy so far has earned us the princely total of 2 points and 3 goals in 7 games!!!...continue that till the end of the season and we will total away from home 5pts and 8 goals and probably get relegated.

most of our easier away fixtures are in the last 3rd of the season, by then we should have enough points at home to be more adventurous away or not enough points at home to be forced into being more attacking away

One thing I can't understand is the seeming lack of preparation going into corner-taking. At Man. City, when Soares came off, the players didn't even know who was going to take the set-piece. Even worse, at Wigan, when we finally got a corner, the starting eleven didn't know (and Griff had to trot up from the back)!
Are we not even practising corners? If not, why the fuck not?! It's one of our few chances to score, especially as we were so potent from them last season (albeit with Liam's delivery, Cort often on and Shawcross in goal-scoring form)! Did I read that we are the only side in the league yet to have scored from a corner?
