Does the Premier League really need an official chewing gum, official sports drink, official anthem to be played before every match and an official beer? There are loads of other daft ones that I can't remember. What do these companies have to gain from it? Would people swap from Lucozade to Powerade because one has a different league's logo on it?

The marketing involved in these things is immense, the 'official beer' you mention happen to be one of my clients....they suffered record losses this year due to England not being in the Euros. If England had made the Euros they would have the rights to run promotions in supermarkets carrying the England logo, you would be surprised at the power this has over consumers.
I don't get 'official chewing gum' though....hardly something you associate with watching footie!

i suppose the gum 1 was brought about when managers like fergie were seen to be chewing gum and kids wanted to be like him
