Following Stoke's crushing defeat at Old Trafford join us to have your spirits lifted with the usual insightful interviews and quirky comment. We chat to Stoke legend Mickey Thomas about his various spells at Stoke and his sincere fondness for the Potters. Hugh Ferris from Key 103fm tells us why he is more optimistic about Stoke's survival chances following Saturday's performance than he was following the Man City game. We also speak to Sky's fanzone Stokie, read out your emails and offer an amazing prize in this week's quiz. Here starts the campaign to get Learned Liam OUT! Let's get him off the Podcast.
the Crwho fans have finally got shut of Holland - we should get shut of LIAM. Liam Out, Liam Out, Liam Out, etc.
No more unoriginal "let's see what the topic of the week is and bore everyone with the same points that are on sky, the bbc and the daily press." This weeks point was club v country - YAWN! A few weeks ago it was Lampard and Gerrard can't play together (just before 6 points vs Khazakstan & Croatia).
Come on Oatcaker's one of you lot could do a better job than this sad stale fail fan. Let's have a campaign for contributions from Ilford Dave discussing Ricardo's possible flight path from Jamaica, times of planes, linking flights, airlines, et al or Trouserdog telling us "how I became a sex pest" and showing his tactical nous by picking next weeks team. Malcy C could wax lyrical as the Fans champion and put right the wrongs of the GMP, Tigger could share his Brittannia modelling skills and help us all build a stadium, Lakeland could share the benefits of living in the Lakes with red squirrels and the nightwatchmen could share their topics.
ANYTHING BUT BORING LIAM!
Liam out, Liam out.

well, it's certainly a strongly argued point. what do other listeners think? we did respond to previous comments and have made the item shorter but maybe the majority of downloaders just don't want to have the feature. Do share your thoughts cos we will take them on board....
Obviously any other thoughts on this week's show / feedback from the other guests views and comments are welcome too...

I like his segment, I actually laughed out loud at his dramatic pause at the end of this weeks piece ..... keep him on I say. Great show again, pod-people, thanks

I'm with Serpico on the subject of Learned Liam. I have come to regard him as the John Sergeant of the Podcast. Like John he may not be the best dancer pundit but, like John, the great British Public are not going to vote him out. Like John he will only take his leave if and when he decides to fall on his sword.
It is well known that Stokies have no love of authority and our love for Learned Liam is a way of asserting our independence of thought and a refusal to kow tow to anything scfcrob tells us to do. Liam may be rubbish but he is OUR rubbish and I for one will be gutted if he leaves and as Mrs Slocomb (of Are you being Served?) would say "I am unanimous in that" ;D
Hands off Liam!

Think he was being a tad ironic with his suggestions of who to replace him, Pod... ...Unless you want us Nightwatchmen talking about kebabs and fit women standing outside wearing hats.

Mad Mickey is describes going to jail as 'disappointing'. Disappointing!! What a strange word to use.

Morning Joe. Yes I was intrigued by Micky's words about going to jail. If he thinks that his sentence was unjustified I'd love the interviewer to have asked him exactly WHY he thinks it was unjustified. Does he think being actively involved in a counterfeiting operation only merits community service? ;D
However, whatever his weird views on British justice, I loved watching him play. His days at Stoke were in the days when I was very much an occasional attendee at games due to living in Plymouth and too much shift work and too many family committments. But Mickey was always one of the players who I looked forward to seeing. Games without him just weren't the same.

I also liked him. BUT there were times whne he could be a bit of a liability.

He was a little bugger when he played for the Shit, but once he donned those stripes it changed my opinion of him. Another one of those irritating welshmen that could get the opposition frothing at the mouth (Savage, Bellamy, Jones). A little demon when he was on the ball. Wouldn't want him as my accountant though.

Good show again - hope you are feeling better now.
Hearing about the Richie Barker brainwashing drives you mad doesn't it. The season before was fantastic - 'We're so good it's unbelievable' ringng out from the Boothen. Only for the manager to go away and buy that long ball shite hook, line and sinker. Coming back the next season seeing them play in that awful kit. Paul Dyson replacing Dave Watson and bypassing a midfield containing Thomas and Sammy Mac was depressing to behold.
Ah well, keep up the good work.

I bet he is "disappointed", especially given recent events, Gordon Brown prints money all the time, and he's a free man

Excellent podcast again and I hope you're feeling better. The interview with Thomas was very interesting and I didn't know about Barker being brain washed and totally changing the style of play, however that was a few years before I started watching Stoke and I only saw Thomas the 2nd time around. I don't mind Learned Liam and it'll be great to see how he reacts to Liverpool throwing the title away as the season goes on . Roll on Monday and hopefully a podcast talking about a win over the baggies! Fingers crossed!!!
