Redknapp seems to have displaced Shearer as the bookies' favourite.

'Mutual consent' - i.e. It'll cost us a bloody fortune to sack you and your management team so please go for this cheaper package and we'll both save face. Newcastle job will take 3 years minimum for any manager save maybe Mourinho. Fools. Also, here's a working link to the official story.

It's a shocking decision and I hope Newcastle go down.
Big Sam did wonders at Bolton, should have been made England manager and was touted for several top jobs. He has been at newcastle for barely a few months and they are inconsistent and in mid table - as they have been for about five years.
The job was always going to take time and sacking him is madness.

Not good for our chances I feel. Most of the Toon players that came to the Brit on Sunday were clearly not playing for Allardyce, and it has been suggested by the more cynical (Moi? ) that a few of them would not exactly be gutted if he was sacked! They'll be trying to impress now.

Guys,
To travel away to Newcastle does everyone need one of them "members away card jobbers" to show at the ground to gain entrance? Me daughter is very interested but we haven't done away together before. Neither of us are season ticket holders for 07/08.
Being as Shearer might be interested!!!

but they wont have time to bring in anymore players untill they get a new manager so that could be good for us.

Away cards (or should that be "Howay cards"? ) are required, unless you can get yourselves on the guest list.

Big Sam did wonders at Bolton, should have been made England manager and was touted for several top jobs. Ian - your knowledge of what it takes to be a successful football team is non-existent. The previous England Manager played a long ball style and was cruelly exposed by Croatia and the rest of the group and we failed to qualify for a major championship. Why is it then you wanted to replace him with a bloke who advocates this style of play? You can get away with it in the Championship where the quality of player is poor but cannot do it at the very top level. Other than that I agree with your other comments.

Redknapp is the word on Radio 5 tonight, can't see him being installed in time for our cup game if it his him. I imagine there will be a lot of negotiating before that happens. I think we could do with it being up in the air still when we visit St James'.

I see Redknapp is favorite but I can't see it. It would be a big upheaval for him from a settled base on the south coast given his age. Would be a good choice though.

Whjy the bloody hell would Harry want that job? He's very popular where he is, doing very well, leave it at that.
Why would Newcastle want Harry? They need someone with experience of winning trophies.

The Redknapp link is a surprise, didn't see that coming.
I was forever hearing the geordies complain that Big Sam didn't talk to the BBC, no change here then.

I'd say Mark Hughes would be by far the best option for Newcastle - rare I agree with Pugsley! Other options being Martin O'Neill (but I don't think he'd leave Villa) and Moyes. Someone who would do a good job for them would be Coppell but I doubt they would ask him and I doubt he would leave Reading. Like others on here I can't see what appeal the job would have to Harry Redknapp who is happy living on the south coast - where he has lived for most of his career.

Beeb and Sky were showing rolling pictures of last couple of Necastle games last night. The abiding images of Sam's days at Newcastle will now be of him standing on the touchline in the torrential Potteries rain at the Brit! ;D At least for the time-being!

I'm going to put a sneaky bet on Copple I think, he's my shout.
There's been rumours he's stepping down at Reading etc... as he needs a rest, well a change is as good as a rest me thinks!
Saw big Sams' signings last night he's spent quite a bit of money actually plus a few udsc. Suprised me really and anyone who sees a player in alan Smith can't be that good?

This isn't the news I wanted, well not till next week that's when I wanted to hear Newcastle had parted company with Fat Sam after the debacle against Stoke the night before.
I do think they have jumped too soon, you can't keep changing managers every 6 months, it just doesn't work.
Think we should send their chairman the Bryan Robson is shite thread and encourage him to have Robson and Roeder on rolling game contracts should only take one and wont cost them much in wages.

They should wait until the end of the season and try to go after Hitzfeld. Experience of big clubs and won trophies with them.
