One thing that got to me was watching on stream, Lou Macari was co-commentator. The commentator himself spent the whole afternoon sucking up to the shiit and denigrating and sneering at Stoke, did Macari once jump to our defence in any way? No.

I am amazed that these "Stokies" thought it acceptable.
I am all for swearing and laddish behaviour but these days there is a line you shouldnt cross and most of us have sound judgement on that.
By singing the song and abusing someone doing their best at any job (and certainly abusing asian people) shows a total lack of judgement, and respect for decency.
I assume those involved knew what they were doing and are therefore clearly stupid.
Incidents like that will do nowt to give us any kudos and could affect any decision on ID cards

The Guardian has (not surprisingly) always been naueseatingly obsessed with Manure. I have long since refused to buy it because of its pathetic Manchester bias.

Stafford
So why do you think that Rooney would deserve the same abuse or worse than Ronaldo?

Stafford So why do you think that Rooney would deserve the same abuse or worse than Ronaldo? Because he is a complete tosser who suddenly forgets where he came from when the bright lights came on. I hope the fat cunt breaks his legs. Is that OK with you?

Must have thought he was safe commentating for Yanks watching it on Setanta then.. At one point the commentator was taking the piiss out of Diao's shooting (he may have had a point but it isn't something you expect from a commentator) and Macari was just laughing along with it. SS
No its not ok....
Rooney comes from a poor background and might not be the brightest so no surprise that he has been affected by the fame etc to some degree
Having said I don't think he has done anything to earn the abuse that Ronaldo certainly deserves
With Rooney - you get what you see but he also happens to be the most talented English footballer who never gives less than 100% for his country
Maybe you know different or maybe you're not English?

I'm a big fan of Rooney as a footballer but let's not pretend he's not a bit of a twat. Don't quite get Stafford constantly defending his mate Joey Barton but hoping Rooney breaks his legs though. Interesting value system chief

What about the traitor kissing his badge whenever he plays vs Everton or Liverpool? Or his assertion that he would much rather see Manure win the champions league than England win the world cup? The amount of racism is one of the things that makes S-o-T a laughing stock unfortunately, I wish the people doing it could see how pathetic they look. I've sometimes had a go when I hear really bad racism at the Brit or just in the street and generally got a mouthful back, but that's not going to stop me.

Rooney has made mistakes includes his well publicised trips to the local brothel However, that was several years ago and I don't know of any crimes commited against society recently (though I don't buy Hello) Rooney couldn't ever compare with the likes of Barton who would have been in good company with the Kray twins!

Interesting value system chief I just hate people that forget their roots. Everyone deserves a break in life. For barton its to sort himself out. For Rooney its his legs. I wouldn't give a shit if the twat never played for England again.

Based on that logic though TWM, Ronaldo hasn't "committed any crimes against society" either. People boo him because he's a twat. What annoys me about Rooney is that he's seemingly exempt from the "Respect" campaign. Don't think I've ever seen a game involving him where he hasn't told the ref to f**k off and he gets away with it every time.

Rooney kissing his badge was a stupid response to the abuse he was being given by his former fans - stupid but understandable
Where did you see that quotation on the World Cup - I've never seen it
Barton certainly hasn't forgotten his roots - lovely family! He doesn't deserve to be in football - 20 years working with crime victims should be his role in life. Can't see him lasting more than a season - luckily for him he's injured

OK boys and girls.
We think this thread has now run it course and everyone has had the opportunity to express their thoughts on the matter.
Before it goes too far and the usual suspects show up to hijack it for their own cause it is now locked down.
Thanks
