I suppose at the start of the season we'd have been looking at 6 points for these two games,but in view of the Topsy- turvy results recently,.. are we perhaps being a tad optimistic, especially with our absentees due to injury etc...?
If we did manage to get two wins then I feel it would really set the season up for us..

I think the baggies will be a game that we can win comfortably,but with the hull match its gonna be a diffrent story.I think that game is a must win and with the way they have been performing lately they are gonna be up for it.

Topsy-turvey results, perhaps being a tad optimistic, absentees... Seeds are being sown. If these were Championship games we would expect to win and be gutted if we didn't. I expect Stoke to win these 2 games. WBA are crapp and bottom of the league, Hull are on a bad run. Stoke are at home and have an exceptional record at the Brit. No excuses. |

We go all out for the wins but if we don't get six points it isn't the end of the world.
If we go out and attack then we'll do Brazil. Hull are different though. The advantage they have over Brazil (and us to a certain extent) is that they can vary their play. If it makes sense to play long balls they play them. If it makes sense to play passes they do so. Not that we are incapable of beating them I hasten to add.

According to most on here they signed a load of old crap in pre-season. They are on a poor run. Stoke are at home, have beaten Villa and Arsenal at home. There can be no excuses BEFORE the game mate. |

From a netural point of view:
West Brom you should win. Yes they play nice tippy-tappy football but they leave themselves open at the back. They aren't a very physical side either and I don't think they will cope with Delap's throws. I wouldn't be surprised if Stoke scored 3 or 4 in this game if Fuller plays. Without him I think you'll win by 1 or 2 nil.
Hull though will be a different story. They've tightened up at the back a lot since the Wigan drubbing and are a far more physical side than others you will have faced. They are also a lot more direct and I think Cousin and King will give as good as they get against Faye and Shawcross. The key with Hull is to close down Geovanni and give him no space. Rough him up if you have to. Nullify him and you have a chance. He's the only Hull player who I think won't like it up him.
I'd be surprised if you didn't beat West Brom. I'd be surprised if you beat Hull.

I don't think 4 points would be a bad return. I am sure TP wants to get 6, and will go for it, as we have done so in most home games this season, but if we beat WBA and draw with Hull that's fine, and will set us up for Newcastle and Fulham.
I don't class myself as a happy clapper either. Hull have done very well and it could go either way, WBA are looking like they are doomed and must be beaten, like Spurs the other week.

REALLY WHY NOT?
WBA,Hull,Fulham at home are games you'd expect 6 points minimum probably 7.
utd @ home I expect to win (no really),Blackburn,West Ham & Newcastle away - we can get 4 points there.
one of the others we can sneak a draw.
25 points in total by the end of Jan - that leaves 15 points to get by from over a dozen games before we got to Arsenal + we ahve Liam to come back & no doubt new players in Jan.

Hull did a real number on us at The Brit last season, I thought. We were very lucky to get a draw against them. I can't see that it will be any easier this time, although we'll have Fuller (he was out last season, wasn't he?). If we beat Hull, it will be a superb result.
I'm not entirely sure why, but I don't fancy us to beat WBA this season. Without Fuller, I certainly don't think it will be renotely easy. To best utilise Kiston, will we "risk" playing two of Soares, Tonge and Whelan? Probably not.
If we are on 18 points after the Hull game, I think that will be a right result.

This is funny. I expect us to beat WBA coz as already pointed out they are toothless and not up to our physical strength. Even without Fuller we have a strong enough team to overcome WBA.
Hull open at the back not tightend up at all they were outplayed by Spurs and Arsenal and were lucky to win. They have got the results but they have not played anyone off the park. I think we have played teams off the park at home. I still cannot believe we lost to Everton. We will beat Hull it wont be easy but is there any easy games in this league, answer to that is No

I'm inclined to agree with Pugsley.
If our next six home games were, say ...
Chelsea
WBA
Man U
Hull
Liverpool
Fulham
We'd all be hoping (maybe expecting) to get a return of about nine points from these six games, with wins against Brazil, Hull and Fulham.
Just because these three fixtures have all come at once, doesn't thus mean that we should have a lesser expectation of winning them than if they'd been spread out further across the calender.
The next five weeks could quite possibly be the most important period of our entire season.

No bigging up West Brom or Hull, we have to use everything we have to beat these especially at home, no excuses Stoke for fucking these two home games up. The crowd have been right behind you all season and these teams must be beaten at the Brit end of, 6 points no min of 4 points crap, we have to beat them.

I don't think it matters much whether the fans overestimate or underestimate the problems the Baggies or Hull will give us. On the other hand it probably is important that the manager and the players don't overestimate or underestimate the opposition. However, I doubt if the manager or the players will be greatly influenced by anything printed on this board. ;D

I personally feel that some people do not fully appreciate the impact the loss of Fuller to this side has.
He is our only real threat apart from the threat posed from the long throws.
If he gets injured at some stage this season, then I don't rate our chances of staying up very highly at all.!!
I just hope that we can find another striker of similar ability in the Transfer window ,and if that means the sale of Kitson, then so be it.
What really amazes me is the apathy that a lot of Stokies show with regards to this subject.

I'd go a little further and include our next home game after Brazil and Hull as well. I think we need 7 points from our next 3 home games and it doesn't matter how we get them. I'm sure we all set little targets in our heads before the season kicked off and mine was to have bust 20 points by the turn of the year. If we got those 7 points from our next 3 home games I feel we'd be well on our way. We would also then be able to relax more in the away games with the Toon, Blackburn and West Ham (we've also got the chance to get some revenge against the Shit on Boxing Day!  ) No doubt about it the next 6 weeks could well have a huge bearing on our season. Goooaaaarrrrnnnnnn Stoke!!! |
