I've just thought once Cort and Shawcross complete their deals we'll have no loan signings at the club. That will no doubt be a massive bonus for us come the closing stages of the season, no recalls and more importantly Super Tone will be able to bring 3 or 4 players in short term to bolster the squad. I think a lot of lessons have been learned from this time last year, Mark. Although last year's loans lifted the club and we started winning games, it was built on sand and we suffered for it.
This time around, we're trying to to get deals done sooner rather than later, and importantly we're going after players who want to sign permanently. There's the makings of a good squad here.

Any loans from now until the end of the loan window should be like Zak - to the end of the season. That prevents any recalls. Although the player can return early if both clubs agree as Gally did a couple of seasons back.

It would also mean that the players we do sign on loan will want to prove themselves either for a contract here, or to their original club that they will be good enough to keep.

Like jimbo said I think we've learned our lesson from last season. We now have a permanent squad of players BUT we also have the flexibility to add loan players to it.

Mark,
It's the permanent nature of the current squad which means we're now capable of bringing in loans without them becoming the foundation of the team. Any loanees will now give us that bit extra and, as you say, that flexibility, to become a better side.
