Without Fuller our tactic of a ten man defence unceremoniously hoofing the ball in the direction of a lonely centre forward just isn't going to work...and against the likes of West Brom and Hull, we really shouldn't be persisting with our usual spoiler-tactics. As useful as they are, we can't rely on Delap's throws every week, so a bit of genuine width from Soares and Tonge, delivering a few crosses for Dave Kitson to get on the end of, would give us the best chance of beating West Brom. To enable this to happen, a shift in central midfield for Rory, and a rest for either Diao or Oli is surely the order of the day? However, we all know that Cresswell will have to feature somewhere, so there's no fucking chance of this happening whatsoever. In fact, why have I even wasted a minute of my life posting this? Sod it Tone, just play Amdy Faye and Cresswell and hope we score off a set piece, we all know that's what you're going to do anyway.  |

Am Faye and Cresswell really are depressing. I see no point to either of them in the starting XI or on the bench bar injury/suspension problems.
We have to play at least one of Tonge or Soares. We just have to!

to be honest i think your talking utter rubbish. the tactics we have deployed against arsenal wernt exactly hoof ball... nor was it against sunderland.. We have to play to our strengths, and to be honest i think we need to play OUR tactics otherwise we would be playing straight into west brazils hands... the reason we always beat them is because we are a different proposition

actually - & for next week only - given it will be Kiston in for Fuller I would play Pugh & Tongue as they can cross the ball well

Probably the first game where you can honestly say he only stayed on the pitch because of his throw in's - and as he couldn't get these going because of the slope then he actually gave us nothing Soares in for Amdy Faye home games Soares in for Rory away games. |

Based on today's performance, Delap is probably due resting. He was awful today. He has been brilliant for the last 12 to 18 months but I think the pressure of the media and expectation of him to be some sort freakish human catapult might be getting to him. I don't doubt his comittment or his loyalty to Stoke but I think he might need a week off. We have not needed Rory's throw's to beat Brazil before and we won't need them next week. I also think it would be good for Rory to see the team winning without him as lets face it at the moment the clubs survival seems to rest in his shoulders, if there could be an ideal game to have a champing at the bit Lawrence back the WBA game would be the one. Anybody heard anything about Liam? |
