Pretty typical of our lovely stewards!! Stand up and they're all over you like a rash but when you actually need them they're not interested! They should be sacked! Do let the dicks that did this keep you away from Stoke Martin. Hope you're ok

Against Plymouth the steward's were involved in a ruck with stoke fan's smoking in the concourse ,one in particular was singled out with bottles and beer thrown at him it was disgraceful. made me ashamed to be a stokie, the steward's are only trying to do there job yet the stoke fan's group together like a pack of wolves. So does'nt suprise me they stood back with this incident. I hope martin is ok,they catch these yob's and most of all he does'nt stop supporting the potters.

I have been told - by a fella who was in the Boothen B23 on Sunday - that "5 or 6 lads were chucked out from B24/25".
So it is possible that some people were ejected for "bad behaviour" but there is not yet enough evidence to prosecute them for the attack on Martin (if they are the same people - There was a post on here on Sunday night, asking what the bother was in 24/25). IF that is the case, then the CCTV trawl should finish the job off.
Similar things have happened before, and been dealt with in that way ... Get 'em out of the ground, then do them later ...
(Just thought I'd add, given I was told the info this avvo)

Not really a suprise considering the number of rat boys who turn up at these sort of games just as an excuse to go on an all day piss up.

What I can't understand is that over 2500 people have read this thread but not one has posted that they witnessed the attack.
Which block and row did the attack take place in?
When during the match did it happen? During the first half or at half time. We were in the Seden and certainly didn't notice any commotion.
I'm not saying it didn't happen but I'm surprised it appears to have gone unnoticed by any of the posters on this board. Normally at the slightest hint of trouble there are people posting about it.
Anyway hope you get well quickly mate.

A very sad story. As it has been stated, it was probably some local low life, who never attend Stoke matches, but attended because it was Newcastle, I had one near me, I'd rather not have their money and they not attend!

sad to here but its not like stoke fans if they saw something like that not to intervene.
why does every1 slate block 19? i dont sit there but they come week in week out and they stand up and sing through out. yeah maybe the same songs half the time but at least there up there getting behind the lads unlike most the middle section of the boothen who just seem to sit there untill a big delilah goes off. we get di*keds like this everywhere now its w*nk i no and all my thoughts are with martin as this shudnt happen in a ground which is meant to be policed and stewarded to make it safe.
get well marty lad hope u dont stop cumin dont let them win.

Hope you make a quick and full recovery Martin.
I hope the morons responsible are not only banned for life but put in prision where they belong.
On another note, I would hate to be a steward at Stoke. When they try to remove anyone from the ground for acting like a total dick, they get verbal and sometimes phisical abuse from large sections of the crowd. The issue of stewarding needs to be seriously looked at even if ticket prices have to go up 50p or so to fund extra security stewards.

Trouble is grounds in general since all seater stadiums were introduced lack the pecking order of old , and the respect that existed tended to keep many in check
Whilst it didn't stop unsavoury incidents happening entirely ..( had more than the odd confrontation on the old boothen for the crime of being an outsider ) .. difference was things tended to be 'sorted' in house a lot quicker especially if someone stepped really out of line
Best of luck with the recovery Martin, whatever you do don't let it or them put you off

Martin dont let this stop you doing something you love..Go to the next game mate and point the shitbags out.
I am stunned that no one stepped in and tried to help out. I am not suprised the stewards did fcuk all. They just want an easy payday with a footie match thrown in.
KEEP GOING MARTIN...

I couldnt believe it when i read it in the Sentinel.
I was down under the screen by blocks 23-24 for the duration of half time (i sit in block 25) and saw or heard nothing.
Surely if the police/the club said exactly where and when it happened more people might be able to help in some way. Id say 99.99% of us are disgusted by what happened.
It goes without saying i waish Martin a speedy recovery and that he'll return to the Brit.

This is an outrage !
Can't understand how the club aren't making any comment on this ?
If somebody goes anywhere near the pitch they get a ban, surely when these idiots are caught they should receive a ban.
What's the world coming to when people are beating up supporters of their own club?

Being a former policeman in the late 1970's and early 1980's, who worked at many football matches in the Manchester area, I can safely say that the despicable attack on Stoke City supporter Martin Parker by "fellow" supporters does highlight that the thug problem remains in football, that Stoke does appear to have more than its fair share of these yobs, but ultimately, whatever security is in place, that society has no place for them and they are responsible for their own conduct not the club. Find them, charge them, lock them up and throw away the key. Not only does football not need them, neither does this country.

This incident is a total and utter disgrace - but not a surprise in the UK any more. I only spend about 1/3rd - 1/4 of my time in the UK and you'd be surprised just how much you notice the increase in this type of thing when you've been away for a while. Not that anywhere is perfect, of course, but there does seem to be a lot more of that kind of "attitude" about over here than there once was. Just what the hell is happening to society in this country?
A nice gesture by the club would be appreciated... after all they are legally responsible for the actions (or inactions) of their employees and representatives (namely the stewards) within the ground, are they not?

"What's the world coming to when people are beating up supporters of their own club?"
What's the world coming to when people are beating up anyone?
The fact that he was a supporter of the same team is irrelevant.

I'm nervous about some of the criticism of stewards, I think it could be misleading if we really want to try and change this. When you look at it through their eyes I suspect that we often don't look the friendliest of crowds that you can guarantee support off. Usually stewards are criticised and abused if they do try to act - what would you do in this particular situation not knowing whether the crowd may turn on you in some form??? If you really want the stewards to 'police' our actions, then such a message has to go out loud and clear. We all bear some responsibility in this??!!

Unfortunately this terrible occurance is a sad statement of our Society in glorious England. Nobody seems to have respect for anyone, and voicing concerns about others behaviour seems to be an open invite to a confrontation. This happened at Stoke but could, and does happen at grounds all over the country every Saturday. Going to a Home match is no longer a Safe bet, especially if you have 'Young 'uns' with you. Unfortunately sometimes you have to keep Schtum! if you don't wish to get a Kickin' for standing up for yourself. Hope your gettin' over it, mucker. This type of Scum are spoiling for a fight any day. RISE ABOVE IT!
