DO I FUCK , why would I want my team to be infested with gloryhunting cuntrags , No I enjoy watching my team just as they are, occasionally very good, occasionally very wank . Its the Highitus and Lowitus talked about by our very own Old Stokie all those years ago .
And given that I'd watch my team in the conferance if thats where they ended up, ultimatley how good they are is immaterial , its about the whole matchday experience , and the 90mins of football is just the focal point for the rest of the day

Supporting Stoke v supporting Man U...is the difference between liking something and loving it...no matter how terrible Stoke are we will always support them...if Man U were to spend 23 years in the wilderness..without any money to spend..without fawning, obsequious media coverage...without having one any major trophies...I very much doubt whether they'd be getting 76,000 each home game...
Man U fans...the vast majority..are attracted to success...for whatever reason..not football...and as long as the team is winning they'll carry-on going...but lose a few games and the old Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea shirts will come ot...
I mean what was 'United Fan' Phil Collins doing there...fack me.

Anyone who doesn't wish we were as good as Manure is quite frankly idiotic. The fact that they have thousands of glory hunters is neither here nor there.

H Every now and then you read posts that have no relevance what so ever to what has been said this is one of them! It begs the question 'and your point is....?

trebor: i think he's trying to say I'm idiotic for not wanting my club to be as succesfull as Man U, what he has failed to take into account, is that in my opionion all the negative shite that would go with being that succesfull isn't worth it.
What RAF doesn't realise is that I could quite easily have supported Man U , my mum was born in manchester, and had an affinity with them, probably to piss off my Grandad who was a man city fan in his youth , she even bought me a man u pillow case when I was about 10, I was rather put out by that as I didn't support them . I however rejected that path to support the team from where I grew up , went my first Stoke game when I was 12 in Jan '88

Actually Trebor I don't see how you can miss the relevance.
Dave I haven't failed to see anything. Whether you could have been a Manure fan or not is irrelevant, so could I , but it was never an option for me. Unfortunately with success comes the hangers on and the embarrassments like the cockney reds. Personally as much as I find them distasteful, if that is what it means to get us as successful as Manure, then so be it, I'd put up with people like that for a full trophy cabinet. Maybe idiotic was a bit harsh, but I can honestly say I would love us to have their success, even if we do have to accomodate some wankers along the way.
