But......... how many people who said Tony Pulis would destroy our club now feel a little sheepish?
The imminent signing of Shawcross is a sign of a team building up, not being destroyed.
Let's hope it continues!
Hopefully people won't attempt to start an argument over this post.

Can only agree and this is someone who was less than impressed by his re-appointment.
The feeling around the club at the moment is the best I can remember certainly since we got promoted from the old 3rd division in the 90's under Macari

The thing is, football fans are so fickle and opinions soon change. No doubt they'd be plenty on here predicting the end of the world if we lose to Newcastle and then again in the league. My view is enjoy it while you can and slag the manager off when we lose a game  |

I’ve always backed TP to do a good job and even when I was frustrated at the lack of signings a few months ago, maintained he should be given time and that he would get it right and the signings would materialise.
Maybe it was blind faith, but whatever you want to call it, the people who called for his head a few months ago were way off the mark.
Once we have Diao fit and playing alongside (hopefully) the additions of Shawcross and Cort we are definitely moving in the right direction. Pugh has been another good signing and Dicko and Wilko have matured into first team players this season. We need a few more (most notably a left sided midfield player) but hopefully we’ll see some more activity in January.

The defence is solid.
We can carry Eustace - just add a left sided player or introduce Demar (if he's up to it)
We blatantly need to strengthen up top - especially whilst big Mama is away, although buying a left winger could effectively give us a new striker in Cresswell.
There isn't much work to be done looking at it that way.

I thought TP did ok in his first tenure BUT his final year was awful and I can understand how people let that final season cloud their judgement of his previous two years.
I wasn't unhappy but neither was I chuffed when he returned BUT unlike many I was happy to see him have another go with a chairman he clearly liked.
I've basically always supported him though those that I go to the games with know that I'm not in blind agreement with everything he does!
I'm glad that many of his critics are accepting he IS actually doing a very good job (though we're obviously going to continue with good and bad results and performances) Our general trend is going upwards, long may it continue! And long may the new found harmony (BBM alias spiderman apart) continue

I must have missed the promotion to the Premier League then and our subsequent European campaigns.
Facts are that he has wasted the last two transfer windows and we are yet to do anything really significant this time around despite having a healthy kitty, although I admit it is very early doors.

You are right.. nothing is done and dusted until april at least.... however i do feel slightly more optimistic then before. I will always be a cynic and wait for it to go wrong.... but i will allow myself to say well done to the club and i'm enjoying it at the moment.... for now |

I nver felt he would destroy the club - ala Ball/Bates e.t.c but I have never thought he could get Stoke promoted
I now think he can so TP & his supporters have been (- although thers is still 21 games to go!)
in the right I can say now.
the faults TP has had & still has are still issues but perhaps its fair to say they arnt as clearcut as we have said.
In short well done TP
hopefully the supporters can now have debates re whatever issues come up, including criticsing the manager,without going to the extremes.

Lets exam those facts
Pugh - signed from a relegation threatened team and was not a regular starter there (I like him though - he can play football)
Diao - Both parties fannied around on this one and when we sign him he is crocked. Will he be as effective as last season? Hope so.
Griffin (probably) No deal done - all conjecture
Cort (probably) No deal done - on loan
Shawcross No deal done - on loan
Fuller (contract extension) Not really a transfer window deal

So when you break it down there is nothing significant that has actually happened. Obviously if we sign permanently Ryan and Cort then great - they looked solid together on Sunday.

Well done to Puggers and Spidey for sticking to their opinion. I think their opinions are crap but well done for sticking to them. You have to admire anyone who doesn't change their mind just because of an unbeaten run and a promotion playoff position and a great display against a Premiership side and moves to buy and upgrade the training complex and bring the stadium into one ownership and continuing and serious attempts to sign the quality of player we have been crying out for for years.
I salute you Puggers and Spidey - you are ahead of your time and will one day be regarded as the greatest Stokies of all. ;D

Yeah for fucks sake, we are only 4th in the championship at the half way point in the season. We are only allegedly about to break our transfer record twice in this window. You can't pull the wool over my eyes! Let's look at the last 20 years of our history, our current position is clearly nothing to be excited about compared to the last 19 seasons.
