Stoke City today confirmed that they have received a £5 Million bid for striker Jon Parkin from Manchester United
In a rare interview with Sir Alex he admitted his interest started after Stoke's recent FA cup encounter with Newcastle, " I didn't catch the game myself but my chief scout was scouring the Monday morning papers and came across an article, i believe in The Sun, which raved about the big guys performance. We checked the official Stoke website and couldn't believe our luck, we believe we've found the impact sub in the Rooney mould that we've been looking for!"
When told of Manchester's interest Parkin, known as "beast" or "lard arse" affectionately by Stoke fans, went immediately to Old Trafford, he said "Sir Alex spoke to me Monday morning and i went straight there for me dinner!, he said I'd be more than welcome with the prawn sandwich brigade, but when i tried 1 they were rather bland and not a patch on the old bacon, egg, sausage and black pudding oatcake and upon closer inspection i couldn't find a Wrights pie shop anywhere, there were just some coffee shops and wine bars so i told Fergie he's no chance of making any decent signings for his club until he sorts out the local area and get some better amenities"
Parkins club manager Tony Pulis admitted" I'm relieved Jon's decided against the move as i'd need to find a new plan b, plan c and indeed plan d. The chairmans happy as well, seen as Jon's been great for pie sales since he's been here and puts alot into our transfer kitty!"

Maybe its part of the negotiations on the Shawcross deal.
They get Parkin with a sell on clause and we get Shawcross plus 5m ;D

I heard Sir Alex pulled out the deal because the Old Trafford kitchen staff couldnt cope with Parkin's wage demands

United want him to come on a make an impact* for 3 minutes, then make a fool of himself for the rest of the time on the pitch.. you know a bit like Sunday night.
*impact being missing an open goal from 3 yards

I thought I saw him the other day whilst wandering through Moss Side, but it turned out to actually be Moss Side itself.
