He was a bit of a star up there, out of favour this season though. He could make the difference so lets hope it's true. Unfortunately his wages will be massive so i won't be holding my breath.

Robson tried to get him for Sheffield United in the summer.
I'm not sure if this is good or bad. Would be nice to beat Robson to a player; on the other hand, Robson isn't the best judge as some of his buys have proved.

Fornside, Stelios will be 34 this summer, so if he isn't in Megson's plans (and that appears to be the case) maybe he is looking for one last pay day in England.
At that age, he's hardly going to attract Prem. attention, which COULD make a move to Stoke particularly attractive (if he's out of contract this summer?)
IMHO, still an excellent wide player and just the sort that everyone has been crying out for, if it happens.
As others have said, Sunday's televised performance and the atmosphere at the Brit. will certainly have raised the profile of the club, which now will seem a much more attractive place to play your football.
Added to that Bolton is no more than an hour away from Stoke AND possibly most important of all - where would he most like to play his football, at a struggling Champ side OR at a club who are showing genuine and real ambition at last.
Although relatively short-term, if it happens this could be one of the final bricks in the wall (remember Geoff Salmons?) and if it doesn't well-done for trying.

Tidy footballer, with a eye for a goal. Best days may be behind him now, but would still do a very good job at Championship level. Not exactly the wing flyer some hoped for, but he would fit into our system of play as does Lawrence.
Gerrim signed up!!

Yep agree Jezza-IMHO no substitute for Prem experience at this level and he has plaenty of it. One of those players like say Gary Speed/Tugay etc that could do similar to what Merson did for Pompey.
Would love to see him here.

I have no doubt that on a messageboard somewhere, Hudsongod is rearranging some letters to form the word "journeyman". ;D
y-o-y, sorry if my post suggested I would not be delighted to have Stelios, I'd be pleased as punch. I remember Waddo's promotion side from the old second division was built with the help of some older stars who could still cut the mustard, albeit at a slightly lower level.

I mentioned this weeks ago and it was dismissed as fantasy. But if the Mirror and the Star are reporting it then it has to be true.
Regardless he would be a fucking great signing.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is set to bid for Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos.
Pulis is lining up a £750,000 bid for Stelios to lift Stoke's promotion charge.

Would be nice to beat Robson to a player; on the other hand, Robson isn't the best judge as some of his buys have proved. I don't quite see your point there fornside. Robson has signed Hendrie, Cahill, Bardsley, Beattie and Speed this season, all players I'm sure Pulis would've liked at Stoke. Robson is a poor manager who struggles to get the best out of his players. Do you think Sheffield United would be fourth in the Championship if he had the players Tony Pulis has?

I was being a bit sarcastic Dave. I agree that Robson's problems lie in his (in)ability as a coach and a motivator rather than his ability to identify decent players.

I think Stelios would be an awesome signing.
I have always rated him, and even at 33 certainly a player worth capturing.
Things are looking good at the moment- so many 'big player names' flying around.
Keep it up Coates, Pulis and Scholes

Stellios: Pulis player. Runs around a lot, works aaarrrddd, can't score. Sign him up. Anyone know if he's left footed? Cresser will be delighted! Anyway, in order:- The first person to mention a swap deal for Ricci Fuller gets lots and lots of Smiting. £750k for a 34 year old!! Has the world gone mad? Don't believe we'll shell that amount out for half-a-season. Loan seems more likely, until end of season - lighten Bolton's wage bill a bit. The Star & The Mirror .... ah ... now I understand ... ah

I suspect that if we do get 200K for Sweeney, we'll need to send a search & rescue team to retrieve Dave from up Tony's arse!
