Is there a more talked about footballer in the country at the moment? This weekend, Wigan will attempt to thwart a tactic that, though legal, has an outlaw quality about it Football is based around three basic rules, the tent pegs that prevent it from collapsing into something formless: handball, offside and the foul. The long throw pushes the boundaries of two of these and Delap, because he can fire the ball further than anyone else and with several different trajectories - low and hard, or high and looping - has suddenly pushed the boundaries even further.www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/nov/07/stoke-city-rory-delap-long-throws?commentpage=1

It does worry me that some might call for the offside law (from throw-ins) to be changed.
Personally I would like to see a review of the offside law anyway - it is outdated and irrelevant, but that's another story (wheel).
Let's wait 'till Fergie puts the advertising hoardings on the line!

People keeping yapping on about how to stop the delap throw, yet here we are 11 games in, and we seem to be getting more goals from the throw as every game comes. The best thing Wigan can do is concede corners before throws.

The object of football is to try to score goals,is it fair if one of your players can't kick a ball as accurate or as hard as an opponent? should they be made to shoot from further back? should you have a 5 yard head start because their striker is quicker than your center half?. The answer to all these questions is no of course, just like teams like Arsenal complain when teams bypass the midfield as this is their strong point.
Every team is packed full of players who have different attributes thats what makes football the game it is lets just leave it the way it is other wise it could turn into a farce e.g. teams starting with a handicap.
P.S. When Wimbledon played a certain style questions were raised then but nothing came of that.
