Not as crazy as it might seem and well worth exploring the options.

Four airlines and three agencies contacted. This has to be firmed up in next 24 hours so I'll let you know. I trust that the official website would help with publicity if this happens.

Knowingeye, great effort but departing at 1600 hrs is cutting it a bit tight, best make it 1200. it'll give us some pre match drinking time if there's any delay. Didn't sunderland fly down to cardiff last season?

I'm just starting the process off and then getting a local agent to do the work for payment processing etc to meet all of the necessary regulations, subject to availability of aircraft. I've asked for prices for 100, 300 and 500 seater aircraft crewed and inclusive. Not so easy at short notice and ideal opportunity to get us ripped off. I'm also speaking with the official ManU agency on Tues who do this all the time. This normally organised within hours of the drawn game finishing. I'll confirm on here late tomorrow what, if anything, has been arranged.
I can't promise results and if you get the opportunity to get something else arranged, do it. I haven't got too much time to put to this as I'm in the midst of a company disposal and major High Court case.
The other alternative or addition and probably much cheaper is the old football special train. Not sure how that's done now, if at all.

seriously, well done ke, whether it comes off or not. I've given you some karma for that. You can smite me if you like for suggesting that you book a part of the aircraft for smokers. OS.

Wouldn't Birmingham be easier? It took us 30ish mins on the train last night from Stoke Station to the airport....

Having done this before and due to the short notice, if we can get this sorted the departure point will be where the available aircraft are. EMA, MAN or BHX, all of which are relatively easy to get to. I have some quotes "winging" their way to me now and I will let you know asap.

If your going by train you'd prob have to go to Derby and change there. I don't think you'll be able to get one straight through.

This would be great if it comes off ! Might even encourage a few people to attend who wouldn't otherwise. Thanks for all your efforts KER.

Congleton the balance is getting the price right and ensuring that the relevant agents involved are making the margin to cover their cost as this is not a huge profit opportunity, although a logistic resource commitment for all involved including SCFC and such short notice makes it hard to organise. I agree with you, though, that with a good departure time, EMA, BHX or MAN would encourage many more to attend. Just hope those that want to go they've got an away ID card (unlike me but that's my problem to sort out!). As I've said before "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new" although that can be attributed to someone far greater intellect than I'll ever have.

Just a thought, aren't there restrictions as to how late a flight can leave and/or land at night due to noise limits?
If the match finishes without extra time, say 9.45pm, it would be at least 11pm before people get to the airport and it could take off, and with extra time and pens it would be after midnight. Might end up having to stop overninght in Newcastle - this happened to Arsenal at Bolton after a league cup match last season (stopping in Bolton I mean, not Newcastle, before somebody takes the piss).
Worth checking out before booking!

As said above it depends on where equipment is based and any additional movements required for equipment repositioning gets hit by hefty landing fees etc which can increase total cost by up to 25%-30% dependent on location. Looking like MAN to NCL return at moment. Other logistics to be organised and agreed at moment.

Man is only 35-40 mins by car from stoke. Train from Crewe is only 30 mins with loads of parking at Crewe. Return journey could be a problem though. Nothing until next morning. So much, for integrated public transport eh?

Might not be much use to this thread really but if your south of the Midlands and are looking to get to the game I have booked on a flight to Newcastle from stansted for £66 return but flying back early next morning with Easy Jet.
Cheers
