If anything she's probably going to benefit from it, just like rebecca Loos and Abby what's her name, she'll be on the cover of some ladz mag within the next few weeks I can guarantee it. She'll probably be a millionaire within the year. It's all been blown way out of proportion, when the show was actually aired they had a mere TWO complaints, it was only when the usual suspect newspapers got hold of it and they drummed up all this false indignation amongst the plebs with nothing better to do that anyone took any notice. I find it ironic that the people who usually deride the "PC brigade" have now become fully paid up members themselves over night. And what gives someone the right to to tell me what I should and shouldn't be offended by ??? for those 10,000 complaints, there's probably 10'000 people who found it un-offensive and funny. Like I say, I'm not a fan of either of them really, but this whole thing is just a joke now, it certainly doesn't warrant them getting fired.

Should they be sacked? No but reprimanded. It was his Granddaughter not daughter... Little slag craving attention? She didn't make the complaint did she? Maybe facts before posting would be good

Sack the pair of them! If not for this stupid stunt then just for being a pair of unfunny wankers. I cannot understand how anybody can find russel brand funny at all.

Serps, well said that man.
In honesty, i'm no fan of either of them per sé but this is ridiculous. This sums up a certain percentage fo the British population - utterly outraged by something they would not have heard about had it not been for their daily dose of racism in the Daily Mail. Pathetic.
If you want to say Ross isn't worth £6M a year, i couldn't agree more. But if you want to sack him because he may have offended the delicate sensibilities of a woman who was, at the time of broadcast, appearing as "Voluptua" in a burlesque group called "The Satanic Sluts", then you are every bit as bad as the idiots clamouring for their heads.
Considering the state this country is in, I would say there are bigger fish to fry.

Considering the state this country is in, I would say there are bigger fish to fry. This type of thing really shouldn't reach the front pages, when you take into account what is happening around the world, a important election in the US in 6 days time, a big earth quake in pakistan which has killed upwards of 150 people etc etc, and yet all the new channels have this story on a loop and they're going to be talking about it in parliament The government certainly shouldn't be getting involved. but quelle surprise, they're all over it like a bad rash, grandstanding about what our poor little ears should and shouldn't hear. Reminds me of the fall out from the episode of brass eye which satirized the new's coverage of paedophiles, and surprise surprise, the satire went right over the plebeians heads and they took the show in a literal sense

I'm not a particular fan of either of them and I didn't find it particularly funny - although like 90% of the population I didn't hear the original broadcast.
But I do find the idea of ringing up a bloke in his 70's, to tell him on air that you slept with his grandaughter, cruel. It was a form of bullying and I can't see any reason to do it - whether it was funny or not is irrelevant.
Sacking them won't be any sort of punishment as they would simply get snapped up by another channel. A substantial fine with the money going to charity would be a better idea.
The person who should be sacked is the producer. I can't see much point in having a producer listen to programmes before they go out live if he isn't going to pick up on stuff like this.

AS fornside said it should never have got to air. It was pre-recorded two days before it went to air and in all fairness I think the papers and media are right to pick up on this. These two are paid by tax payers money and if this is considered entertainment then i've surely missed something.
Sacked - No Severely reprimanded - Yes
What exactly had Andrew Sachs done to deserve these 4 phone calls exactly?

The question is, if it hadn't gone to air, what would have been made of the phone calls anyway? Because they would have still happened.

Andrew Sachs would still have made a complaint but the BBC may have saved a little face by not airing them. Ross and Brand would have been able to make a simple apology and it would be forgotten about. As it is the BBC did nothing and now its come back to bite them in the arse!

On the show the week before the phone message show, Brand mentioned (on live or prerecorded radio) that he'd shagged Sachs's grandaughter and that she had told him not to tell Andrew Sachs if they ever met. No one complained. A week later, the messages were made and broadcast - Andrew Sachs didn't complain. I heard he did ask for it not to be broadcast in which case the BBC are to blame for not editing it out of the show. Apologies have been made by both Ross and Brand to Andrew Sachs and his grandaughter.
What's the big feckin' deal?
Arguably, Frankie Boyle makes far 'crueller' jokes on Mock the Week every week.

heard this on 5 live this morning
its funny how andrew sachs made his name as a stereotypical spanish waiter, being called stereotypical racist spanish names by basil faulty
whilst faulty towers is very funny alot of the jokes and sayings it in and other 60s and 70s comedy shows would not get past the censors today
